So it"s not just little britain that"s falling apart ASCP?:

Italy must always be falling apart if you've ever flown from there. But Dublin Airport world famous now - for all the wrong reasons. Let all the staff take early retirement during Covid, replaced them with minimum wage workers and now you can't even guarantee you'll get through on the same day your flight is. Great planning.

At my company you could only fly business class if the flight was at least 5 hours. I worked mainly in Europe so had to fly economy which was okay unless you were traveling to a holiday destination when you are surrounded by excited kids etc. whilst trying to work.

My bosses flew on economy tickets yet someone how miraculously managed to get upgraded to business every time probably because the airlines knew they were the decision makers when it came to travel decisions.

So "we are all in this together" NOT.

The only good thing for me was if I was traveling with my boss I didn't have to sit next to him on the flight, thank god.

Last time I was in Dublin was around 2007.

I was told then that Dublin was the only capital city in Europe that did not have a rail service to the airport. Only one road there and if there was a pileup you were stuffed. There was talk of extending the tram to the airport.

Did they ever do anything?

If you know Ireland, there isn't a chance in hell of them ever doing anything. The airport where I live had no bus even, let alone train. What a surprise when that shut down. I believe Dublin is right up there in fees too - fees for absolutely nothing.

I think 5 hours is a reasonable flight time for a company to allow upgrading - most of my flights at the time were Middle East / East Africa so the vast majority of them would have been economy class bookings anyway - I dont mind travel rules so long as everyone sticks to them, but there is always someone ( or a small group) who think that the rules dont apply to them & try to kick the backside out of it -

When I am back in UK my son is treating me to the Red Hot Chili Peppers show on June 25th.

My son is flying from Dublin to London that morning, hope this mess is fixed by then

What are you blaming it on then CP - anything but reality - or is it Boris's fault again?
The pandemic - created by China - forced airlines to lay off tens of thousands of employees in the UK alone.
Add that to airport staff laid off - some private and some public employees - and you have a shambles.
Add to that greedy Airlines booking flights they knew they couldn't service and it gets worse.
I would love to know who you blame though?

Under NO circumstances can we blame the CONservative government dolphin- they have only had 12 years to get things right- by the looks of it they will need a LOT more time, perhaps another 50? In any case, giving people temporary working contracts at the airport wasn"t bungles idea, it was CONservative maggies, I know, I was on one loading planes at Gatwick- so no, although it was the CONservatives , it was alas Maggies idea- the temporary staff don"t get the same perks as the permenant staff, holiday pay and sick pay etc- and the companies say stay a year, and you might get a permenant contract with wages you can actually survive on! As you can imagine, at the years end unfortunately they can"t give you the permenant contract- but stay another year on crap money why don"t you? I"m starting to enjoy the misery I predicted on the CONservatives, the country really is the laughing stock of Europe, led by a donkey- It would be a shame for any other party to take over and try and right 12 years of wrong, so enjoy the ride dolphin, the high prices, shortages, long NHS waits, don"t get toothache unless you can use a pair of pliars, stock up on candles for the predicted power cuts this winter- and what ever you do- DO NOT BLAME THE CONSERVATIVES- THEY NEED TIME TO FIND THEIR FEET!

CP at the time of lockdown all airport employers had the option to furlough staff…. fact. The vast majority, including security and airlines, chose not to take up the offer. Presumably as they did not want to pay anything towards wages. Now they are having problems recruiting staff, due to poor working conditions/ shift patterns,on poor wages.
I know you want to blame everything on the CONS but the employers were offered financial assistance but chose not to take it. Whois too blame? Unfortunately for you not the Government on this occasion .
Are you getting your excuses in for Labour early?

I'm flying around then as well. I'm going to be five hours before my flight, just in case. Has reached ministerial level here but the minister's a Green - so may or may not sort it. Usually tells people to ride a bike.
