I'm all for out of the box ways to alleviate the housing crisis, but she comes off like a somebody who likes to talk, rather than come up with workable solutions. Plus she has three houses, so not much of a housing crisis in her world.

The title of the video is silly and designed to inflame though. It is tagged on racist commentary that has absolutely nothing to do with what's said in the video.

Exactly my thinking.

The older I get the more I see politics as a game the very privileged play to influence the very ignorant. Then there are a load of us in the middle with a permanent look of bemusement on our faces so disillusioned we just shrug it off and get on with our lives.

Strange old world.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Isn't it just!

Yes, it's very performative. I was half expecting her to suddenly climb up and jump off the top rope of a wrestling ring. When the door closes after the end of the work day I find it hard to believe that she's as passionate about this stuff. It's all very Punch and Judy, and then sliced and diced by equally pushed social media narratives that are just as insane. Rinse and repeat for left or right. This video and tagged on comment is a good incapsulation of the lunacy of it all.

Ultimately, at its core it's surely all just a perpetual effort by the very wealthy to divide upon cultural lines with ill fitting batches of beliefs (which saves really thinking about anything!). That way, they hinder people with significant commonality of what's important to them in life from actually ever seeing that and uniting around shared interests.

People just end up lumbered with laughably limited, caricatured and malignant views of whole swathes of the population. It becomes a self fulfilling prophecy, because the more others exit stage left due to people being brainwashed politically, the easier it is for these cult-like saps of every shade to fill in their colouring books how they wish, with little actual real world nuance or interaction to interfere with it. A safe space lovers and basement dwellers fantasy.

The real challenge and achievement in life is to not get suckered into these inviting, simplistic traps. It's a pitifully led life when people totally lose their sense of basic human decency and connection due to such contrived nonsense.

Politicians now are not anything like the real left.

You call for nuance and interaction but call people brainwashed and basement dwellers (and worse) for disagreeing.

You touch on some truth though in that left v right v centrist (after populating all of these positions at some point in my life) is a trap.

You have global capital completely draining every resource and bit of value in the direction of Oligarchs and at the same time consolidating global power via technology and opaque policy decisions and we are arguing about whether a woman has a p**** or who attended a particular drinks party. They are laughing at us.

People should be finding the bare minimum set of principles they can agree on to wrestle back some real power for themselves before that ability is removed.

Well really, I called those on the left and right who are victim of the Punch and Judy show and come to embody its purpose 'safe space lovers' and 'basement dwellers' respectively, on account that they allow themselves to become as such.

Most typical people who lean this political direction or that still manage to have their own ideas and substantial nuance and good will towards others regardless of colour or creed. They would likely concur with such definitions at the political edges where those positive attributes are routinely missing. People are very often interesting and varied. Walking clickbait and Identikit echo chamber attitude types not so much.

I agree 100% with you, but people have to act like they believe it, rather than propogate it, intentionally or otherwise.

The problem with nuance is that the vast majority of people don't have the basic tools to participate in it. How many people have any understanding about the following just as examples:

Quantum computing
Artificial intelligence / machine learning
CRISPR
5th generation warfare
Fusion Doctrine
Regulatory capture
Keynesian/Austrian economics
What is "sustainable development"
Any real understanding of European/World history
What legislation is being passed through parliament on their behalf
The parliamentary whipping system
How lobbying works

These are the kind of important things that are changing the world beyond recognition and all we get via the media is sensationalising or glorifying the mundane but everyone seems to accept this.

People in the media can't even explain how inflation works.

Yes, indeed, misleading title, could have just as easily said labour party take homes from bame people to give to whites!
