Cricket: England doing well! Something everyone wondered if they'd ever hear again.

Apparently New Zealand are under cooked though, with players returning and players who haven’t played much recently, a bit like every time we play in the ashes down under

When I first started watching cricket this criticism wasn't really there as touring sides took weeks before playing the first test to avoid that very issue.

Now that cricket has become much more about making as much money as possible those practices are minimised as much as possible and hence we get a lower standard and the home side has a significantly higher advantage.

Essentially the real cricket lover gets short changed.

Yes I always remember touring teams were around for weeks before the first test, playing against county teams, now it seems they’re hardly out of the airport before the 1st test

You can't help but see that the affect of priorising the short game has had a shocking affect on batting for any real time periods.

So much for the red ball reset.

I guess it's entertaining in a funny sort of way.

Agree, there's a Benny Hill aspect to it, just without the nurses and stockings....and...well, no actual Benny Hill.

On a positive note Potts accomplished himself well . Sadly our middle order is woefully inept.

At least there's an element of consistency.

I'm looking forward to today. I'd say there are a few batsmen who aren't.

There is a weird form of masochistic enjoyment to be found here. I mean, I'll never actually support against England but if you're going to be beaten....

Well the ECB are so woke it just feels like a slap back.....even if it isn't really.

But to be fair to the new management they need time until judgement.
