agreed. The Crystal Palace , of Joseph Paxton, had one of the first proper football clubs in the World.

Print the logo, own the year, 1861.

And even if the paperwork is ambiguous....the geography isnt. We are not 1905 , we are Pioneers.

A ton of massive games were held at Upper Norwood...back in the time of the Dinosaurs.

They're in Crystal Palace park now aren't they?

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

The FA allowed us to compete in the Generation Cup (which we won) alongside the Royal Engineers, Hitchin and others. All of them are still existing clubs playing in various leagues. Plus we wore our Amateur colours in the 3rd round at Millwall. So i believe the FA have accepted our foundation of 1861. I think it will be officially announced in the summer that we are the oldest club in the universe, and the new logo crest will be in place at the start of the 2022/23 season.

The Generation Cup was not an FA competition. It was organised by a tribute club, the 21st century Upton Park team.

The FA and the National Football Museum have considered the matter in depth and agree that there are two separate clubs, with the same name, founded in 1861 and 1905 respectively.

A lot of historical inaccuracies with no evidence offered. For starters, Crystal Palace was not the world's first theme park. Many others across the globe opened before this, including Blackgang Chine in 1843.

The Crystal Palace Company did not form the cricket or football clubs – it simply leased the ground to private members' sports clubs. This is recorded in multiple newspapers of the time.

Newspapers of the time also report the football team disbanded, which Peter Manning has chosen to ignore. He also ignores the fact the cricket team folded in 1899.

Ok chum, so how come we were still playing friendlies against top clubs like Aston Villa in 1897, just 8 years before we turned professional which the book explains. Watford have been allowed to absorb Watford Rovers of 1881, even though it was disputed and there was scant evidence they were the same. We had the same name, and were still playing in the park. The shares were transferred and still owned by the company. People like you are either Notts county fans in disguise or you just simply don't want to accept it. Even Stoke Ramblers has been disputed. I think it will be officially confirmed this summer.

The last recorded match of the first CPFC was against Barnes on December 18, 1875. No results can be found for 20 years since and they are no longer listed in the Football Annuals or affiliated with the FA.

In January 1883, the Athletic News revealed that Crystal Palace FC folded as they could not come to an agreement with the owners of their pitch in Crystal Palace Park.

This was divulged in a match report of a team calling itself Crystal Palace Rovers that played against the Pilgrims, in Walthamstow that month.

The writer says the idea of Crystal Palace Rovers was “to revive the past glories of the old Crystal Palace Club, which, in its day, was one of the strongest metropolitan societies, but eventually came to grief owing to a misunderstanding with the Palace authorities about their ground.”

The football team were told to leave the park by the land owners, the Crystal Palace Company.

Around 20 years after the CPFC game v Barnes, the Sheffield Telegraph in November, 1895, reported there was the possibility of “a company being set up to promote soccer the following season at the Crystal Palace.”

In November 1895, the Crystal Palace Company invited cup holders Aston Villa to an exhibition match at the Palace made up of Corinthian FC stars.

“The Corinthians furnished the majority of the eleven which represented the newly formed Crystal Palace FC,” wrote the Sporting Life.

The Company put together another scratch team against the German Football Association on September 5, 1896.

A year later, Corinthian FC players were again borrowed for this third exhibition tie between Palace and Sheffield Wednesday.

“The Sheffield Wednesday team brought their Southern tour to a conclusion with a match against a scratch side, including several Corinthians, at the Crystal Palace,” wrote the Sheffield Independent.

After three friendlies in three years, the next Crystal Palace results came in 1905 when today's club was formed. A new company was set up but the Crystal Palace Company became the major shareholders.
