Neil Oliver....a Watt Tyler for modern times

Finally someone on a mainstream platform is pointing at the real problem. We are seeing an intense political realignment. People who agree with Neil Oliver may see themselves as left wing, centrist, libertarian, conservative or whatever. They see the same problem whether they agree on the solution or not. It's a war mongering, authoritarian and technocratic elite that see themselves as a different class to the rest of us. Conservative or Labour, Republican or Democrat we get the same result every time and it's not in the majority interest. Mark Styne has also been a revelation. Edited by W12 (06 Jun 2022 8.55am)

What's new is that many of the current problems demand action on a global scale, which mean new institutions are required to suggest and coordinate our responses. This isn't the least bit sinister. It's a refreshingly, sensible and praiseworthy modern approach to how we respond in a fast moving, interdependent, world. There will always be some who constantly look backwards and have feet of clay. I am though glad we now have enough with the vision to see what is needed.

Edited by W12 (06 Jun 2022 8.55am) The only place such a realignment is taking is in the relatively tiny groups of political ideologues who spend their lives watching other political ideologues on videos or social media. Mainstream politics is not impacted and the vast majority of the population don't care. Promoting the idea that there is an "elite" conspiring to deny the people what they need is the currently popular theme. That it's obvious nonsense doesn't stop it being widely believed in these circles. I am just grateful that you seem to get so much satisfaction in hearing your voice in the echo chambers, and that won't make any difference outside of them.

That you describe me as being in "a bubble of self-delusion is priceless". Never has a pot been so black. Which you must hate. I don't regard myself as narcissistic, or smug, but can see why someone with a tonne of chips on his shoulder might reach that conclusion. It must be very frustrating to be so wrong about so many things, yet still be so determined to prove they are right, that they twist themselves into knots.

No anger there, just an explanation. I like Neil Oliver as a TV presenter. He is informed and interesting. Politics is clearly not his strength, so he would be well advised to stick to areas he knows and adds value to.
