An issue with Potts is that he is a low eighties bowler and you wonder what he offers on flat tracks aboard. Obviously we all hope that doesn't turn out to be the case.

That injury list is nuts.

Another who's had injuries is George Scrimshaw from Derbyshire who's worth a look. Although he's listed as fast medium he can get up to 90 mph + and is 6'7".
Before he got injured Garton looked very sharp and had a notable nasty streak which we could do with - left handed too.

Bowler injuries seem far more common in the modern game than they do in the days of Robin Jackson and Bob Willis, not sure why, as say a Truman would bowl plenty of overs in a day.

Presumably, all the coaching and training. Might just be best to leave fast bowlers alone, rather than train them 10 hours a day. A packet of fags and a few bitters should be the new training mantra.

Could it be anything to do with the variations they're expected to provide now - different speeds & angles of delivery all the time don't allow the bowler's action to become properly grooved.
There are also a lot of very short spells in limited over games on pitches which are usually batsman friendly so a young bowler who's trying to impress might put too much effort into bowling more quickly than suits him.

That's probably what it is.

Back in the day they would get fit by bowling.

So much money has gone into back room staff and they all feel the need to justify the expense.....but cricket is largely a one on one game and less can often be better than more....as complication is rarely going to help.

But mission creep is an ever present of bureaucratic managerialism.

England showing that they'll normally struggle to bowl teams out. No surprise really. I would have batted first.

Stokes elected to bowl but its a batting pitch.

Very average England bowling they are there to be hit.

It's as old as the hills that a flat pitch against a good batting line up requires pace and wrist spin.

I would have liked to have seen Jamie Overton here as he's fit and fast. Also I don't get how Parkinson was sent home but instead of Leach but there you go.

Even so you don't expect Broad to bowl as badly as that and Potts needs the pitch to have something in it like most medium pacers....the wicket does have something but he also bowled poorly.

Just wait till we bat, an innings defeat looks likely
