All you need to do is study the graph for the increase in oil prices since Biden came to power. All for the benefit of his paymasters. It's that simple.

Thank you for you expert analysis Maynard Keynes - it's not the only simple thing around here.

So you think it is merely a coincidence?

Personally imo it’s artificially inflated to cover the tax losses from sales of fossil fuels falling due to green implementation. In the uk tax is about 40 billion PA on petrol/diesel. I reckon they have lost at least 5 billion so far. That’s a big hit. Got to make it up somewhere. If the environment was that important we should all be given green this and that free. I mean “you’ve destroyed their childhood”

Staggering national debt increases, quantitative easing and gigantic tax cuts (largely for the rich) added trillions onto the national debt before Biden even came to power. The economy was on the brink as it was. They're essentially all part of the same system, there is no good option and the economy was going to tank either way. The country doesn't operate in the financial interests of the average American and in tough times the rich will always benefit and the poor suffer, no matter who is at the helm.

The trouble is in a partisan atmosphere so much input through that prism. America is f***ed due to that reason really.. being trained to opt into a silly good vs evil narratives, which suit both political parties geeing people up, and those making bank while the plebs bicker. Unless people are willing to snap out of that there's little hope, because it's an outlook template they will apply to any every situation and scenario going even beyond existing cultural fault lines.

I’m apparently “far right” but people like Russell Brand, Jimmy Dore, Naomi Wolf etc are increasingly coming to exactly the same conclusions as I am to the point where there is pretty much nothing we disagree on.

It’s almost as if the left/right divide was always a bit of a lie.

I like a lot of what Brand says.....I disagree on his preferred politics but I understand that he's coming from a good place with his analysis that various communities need to co-exist rather than constantly fight each other.

I think that happens best by peaceful separation and partition. In the States that is an easier process than for here and in European countries where it isn't really possible....but where it happens demographically anyway.

I also agree with Brand that the enemies of most people sit above the elected classes.

I think when you factor in the covid economic reaction in the US....and there would have been economic consequences regardless of the approach....I think it's accurate to state that the economy would have been badly hit regardless of who won in 2020.

I certainly think Trump was far more eager to open up than Biden was but he could only have affected half of the country on that.

It's also fair to say that Trump was just as happy to operate the money printing machine as the Democrats are.

Still, under Trump the US was an energy exporter not an importer and I think they would be doing better on jobs and wages, simply because he isn't weighed down by ideology like the Democrats are.

So I think it's worse under Biden but it was going to be bad anyway.....I also think that under Trump we wouldn't have a cold war right now.....I think if Trump wins in 2024 the cold war ends and standards of living improve generally.

Though as I've said before Trump and all these guys are too fecking old.

When Trump was in power I don't remember any voices calling for reasoned responses.....On here it was nuts in May all year round.

The Democrats do anything and everything they can against the Republicans and that's how it is now.....The days of bipartisanship are gone....the distance between the centre of both parties...which use to be reachable is now considerable....they don't quite speak different languages but it's not far off.

'The US Supreme Court has ruled that the Constitution gives people the right to carry a gun outside their home, in a significant new ruling for gun rights.

The decision is expected to allow more people to legally carry firearms in some of America's biggest cities - such as LA, New York and Boston - and is the court's first major decision on gun rights in more than a decade.

It comes as Congress is working on changes to gun laws following the shooting at a school in Uvalde, Texas, where 19 children and two teachers were murdered.'

What a fun addition to the tinderbox. I'm sure nothing whatsoever will go wrong as result!

33 amendments over the years, plus several aspects of the constitution are open to anterpretation, but I certainly agree with you that it's clear on allowing gun ownership. It was a comment on what more people wondering around with guns might mean. Then again there are already so many shooting perhaps doing anything about it is seen as something of a lost cause already.
