On Thursday 9th., Gatwick NT, taxi to first pint 20 minutes !

However returning from Geneva was chaos. 2 hours to clear security as there were only 3 lanes open.

Falling down escalators isn't fun. I went from almost the top to the bottom at Bank tube station many years ago. Lucky to survive it. Spent the night at Guys Hospital where they made a connection between my mishap and the fact it was Beajolais Nouveau Day

There's an escalator at Waterloo the bloke in front was drunk and had a rucksack as we got near the top he toppled backwards into me luckily my mate who was behind me and a lump anticipated it and as I and this guy fell backwards braced himself and stopped us falling.

I pushed the guy back up and he was so so drunk he glared at me as though I had done something wrong.

If my mate hadn't been there I think we both could have had serious injuries.

You were lucky badger, every now and then you get on an escalator and you think this dont feel safe, the primark ones in croydon are quite steep but that gatwick one had he giddy-and the old guy obvs felt the same!

Sounds good Badger- enjoy and let the mental torture the CONS have inflicted in the last years evaporate away in the sun!

Can belatedly report Gatwick 19th June early morning piece of cake at North terminal. Now concerned how the trains will be when I return on Friday. I read Gatwick line is “strike safe “ WTF that means

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.

I think that the Gatwick to London line is running throughout the strike but don't hold me to that!

I don’t believe Southern are striking and possibly any action does not affect Gatwick Express.
As an aside, I always advised people to avoid Gatwick Express due to how expensive they were. There are trains from Gatwick that on,y stop at East Croydon and Clapham, cheaper and not much slower either

Depends which one. I have used the Virgin lounge and business class lounge, they are good. They now have one , which anyone can purchase entry. Not sure it is worth it tbh.

Back from Croatia so my update.

I flew BA from Heathrow terminal 3 no problems there or back. We got in yesterday morning and there were long queues for passport control however it was well managed and kept moving it took about 30 mins so our bags were waiting when we got through.

Last night I read there was chaos at Heathrow yesterday however it didn't say which terminal or time of day so not very helpful.

I have flown three times this year I think they are finally getting a grip expect continuing problems but at least they have reduced flights to a manageable level.

Brexit
I was on a group tour we had people coming from Australia and UK via Frankfurt both had problems due to lack of staff at Frankfurt.

Our Croatian guide also mentioned the lack of staff at their airports and the length of time it was taking to hire new staff and get security clearance. This does seem a problem worldwide greedy companies sacking staff and not re-hiring quickly enough.

Lounges
Bluejay asked about business lounges there are 2 types airline or company. Airline lounges mean you have to fly business the other type you pay a fee.

I wouldn't bother, I find they are too crowded and not value for money. It's a nice idea that whilst there is chaos in the terminal you kick back and have a drink and a meal in a calm environment but the reality is that they are just as busy and understaffed as the rest of the airport. Lots of complaints about them if you look online.
