Chelsea will play 55+ games next season and he's an England international now. He'll get substantial game time next season at Chelsea - this season Loftus Cheek got the equivalent of 24 90 minute games, even Hudson Odoi got the equivalent of 20 and he was bang out of form. There's no reason for CG to move.

More interesting to see what he does the following season if he decides he wants to be playing 40+ games a year.

26th January 2010 - Enter Administration
2nd May 2010 - D-Day 1 - Survival at Hillsborough
1st June 2010 - D-Day 2 - Survival at Lloyds
7th June 2010 - CPFC2010 exchange contracts.

Exactly this. He's not going to give up on the Chelsea dream before its even started.

But he is in an ultra competitive team now, with multiple world class midfielders, and if rumours are true they are likely to add a couple more.

He'll either rise to it or have a decision to make about whether he wants to be a bit part for a challenging club, or a guaranteed starter elsewhere.

Connor, has earned the success he has had this year, but let’s face it ,it has come with regular game time. For this part of things, his England prospects, will falter if he doesn’t play enough, whether at Chelsea ,or elsewhere .
As far as the very top competition is concerned Connor, is still a work in progress and if Chelsea bring in more top quality mid field power from abroad added to the quality mid field they already have, and knowing Chelsea standards are top four, Champions league then would Connor fit the bill for more than occasional outings.?
It could be club and player will give it another year. Regardless IMO he is obtainable, but outside of one more loan could we meet Chelsea’s asking price.?

He’s a Chelsea fan and so are all his family so his heart has got to tell him to keep trying with Chelsea but his head will tell him don’t play and you are not going to the World Cup.

I can see another loan move for him.

He should forget about The World Cup, and do what's best for his club career.
If we are taking the likes of Conor to the WC, then it shows what a dearth of options we have in his position. He's not ready.. yet. A year or 2 more development is required. 1 (half?) good season should not make an international player.

In two maybe three years time, it will be Connor Who?

If not, where does that leave him? I could see the likes of West Ham, Villa or Newcastle coming in with a bid and he may chance his arm at one of these three, seeing them as sides on the up.

We have just as much chance as 'being on the up' as those clubs next season. Newcastle have a ton of money, but that doesn't necessarily equal overnight success. Especially when they are competing with the other big spenders. Man City were able to buy their success when originally, there were a limited number of other clubs that had the same purchase power. It's not the same today.

Villa on the up?

Sadly yes..I see him as a star player at a mid-table club, can't see him breaking through at Chelsea. He isn't quite at a Kante or Jorginho level...

Palace enjoyed a very good first half a season from Conner the second was just OK. He is history let us move on I don't want a player who preferer to be else where I can't blame him for preferring Chelsea he has ambitions, not that I can see him making the first 11 any time soon. Loans are not a cheep option once a player is established which he is now after a good season with Palace. We need to develop our own such as Scott Banks and others.

As far as I'm concerned we had him on loan for a season, paid his wages and for 6-7 months managed to find, nurture and unleash what Charlton, Chelsea, Swansea and West Brom couldn't!
Gave him the opportunity to be an England international, doubled his value and now we have to send him back.
Just like we did with Loftus Cheek!!

I agree with others though about Conors game time this coming season. He isn't going to like it much, but he won't be wearing himself out like he was with us!
Perhaps Chelsea will now let us have Levi Colwill?

I can't see us prioritising him now with Doucoure and Flynn Downes apparently inbound (Downes being more or less the Gallagher equivalent).

While I get that he's a Chelsea fan and wants to pursue his dream, I can't help but think there's a pretty good chance that one day soon, Connor's going to regret not pushing hard for a permanent move to Palace at the end of last season. And if he'd told Chelsea that's what he wanted, my guess is that something might have been worked out.

Maybe I'm wrong but I can't see him becoming the first choice at Chelsea and if he's loaned out again, I doubt he'll rip trees somewhere like Everton the way he did with us. He had an almost perfect situation in front of him here...a coach who loved him, England call-ups, supporters behind him, etc. Dreams or not, sometimes a bird in hand is what matters.

Anyway, time will tell but I'd honestly be surprised if we're still after him. My sense is that things may have moved on.
