On Thursday 9th., Gatwick NT, taxi to first pint 20 minutes !

However returning from Geneva was chaos. 2 hours to clear security as there were only 3 lanes open.

Falling down escalators isn't fun. I went from almost the top to the bottom at Bank tube station many years ago. Lucky to survive it. Spent the night at Guys Hospital where they made a connection between my mishap and the fact it was Beajolais Nouveau Day

You're right there. I took a flying header down the escalator at Old Street tube. Bit of a Catch - 22 in that if I hadn't been steaming I'd have hurt myself much worse but wouldn't have fallen down them in the first place.

Several flights delayed today or cancelled. Birmingham airport first hand travel chaos. I will put it succinctly: Ryanair are compensating me no questions asked. That's how bad it was. I booked three different connections to make one. I've got a family to look after!

My company was sending someone over from Belfast Monday morning,
(yesterday) I was supposed to pick them up from Heathrow at 08.00 am, by late Sunday they still hadn't received their confirmation number from the airline & couldn't tell me which terminal they were landing at so I wasn't too surprised when I got up at 5 am to walk my dogs that there was a text from the guy saying that the flight
(or at least his booking) was cancelled.

A good dissection of what's going on. There is a serious message behind the comedy.

Knock on effect of massive pandemic disruptions .. In a few months time I would hope they're less of an issue. Its not managed to disrupt my recent flights, but I think Ive been lucky really.

Still ongoing in Ireland - how is it UK?

The compensation isn't good enough. Over three hours isn't bad - if you can manage to claim it. My last delay was 2 hrs 10 or so. Only entitled to reasonable food and drink. Ryanair make everything impossible anyway with their late alerts and day after claims. There's no one to speak to when you need it. My favourite is their "chat bot". It knows nothing - may as well be a hoover.

steaming at a tube station, that means something totally different.

This is Ireland's solution. I don't agree with it.

Agreed not the answer.

In April Terminal 5 was a mass scrum there was just one queue and it was not organised, very stressful and chaotic for all.

2 weeks ago when I came back from Croatia through Terminal 2 it was very busy but they had the commonsense to put in these queueing tapes you see in the banks. It thinned the people into an organised queue which moved albeit slowly. They had staff every few yards telling people what to do (You don't need much training for that).

I also noticed that one person who was working the E- Gates walking up and down and reporting the ones that had broken down.

Like anything if the public can see that they are in an organised queue which is moving they will be patient.

It wasn't perfect but I felt more relaxed as it wasn't chaotic.

If you don't have enough staff to handle the volume then have staff work the queue, people often get upset because there is no one to talk to so having someone walk up and down and answering questions can reduce the stress.

Bringing in the military is not the answer. Perhaps fining the bosses of these companies might concentrate their minds.

The staff who marshalled the egates queue at Gatwick were made redundant, rather than being furloughed. They now cannot recruit because the pay and shift rosters were appalling. This is solely down to GAL

Yup which is why the bosses should be fined.

People need to keep in mind that this is happening all over the world and with a backdrop that there are significantly less flights scheduled than there were back in 2019.

Almost as if it was deliberate.
