I’d love us to build an expensive new stand, so it means we stay where we are and don’t end up in godstone/caterham or somewhere miles away.

We could move somewhere wonderful with great transport like, erm, Falmer…

When you leave a game at Spurs you realise we are actually blessed in our location.

Agreed that we have a great location for transport, but we can't ignore the elephant in the room that our facilities are not fit for a long term Premier League club (or even the Championship). I don't buy this "Selhurst has great character" bollox. Three sides of the ground need re-building and that is not where we should be after all our cumulative years of Sky money...

But the only way to get the "Sky money" is to spend the "Sky money" (and some) on players because we never generate the free cash flow/profit vs clubs with better facilities. At least until we improve our selling of players for huge profit.

If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities.

the news story released yesterday was totally incorrect ,the planning permission has not expired, that is because it has not even commenced yet.Planning permission was granted just over 3 years ago but it was subject to a legal agreement being signed between the Council and the club, whilst the discussions appear to have been drawn out they are still ongoing. So in theory the legal agreement could be signed tomorrow and then the permission becomes live giving the club 3 years to commence the work from the date the permission becomes live.So contrary to what Inside Croydon has said the club do not have to start the whole planning application process again

What a surprise.
The planning system in this country is woeful and is causing massive housing shortage issues. It is slow outdated and anything but straight….forward.
Croydon would appear to be a fine example of national problems.

With respect, you are talking nonsense! You can plan whatever you like and the system will process it, but if you don't own the land on which you propose to build something, that's not a planning issue.

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)

Nearly agreed with you CP but I think a 2 tier main stand and Whitehorse would be sufficient. Apparently the Whitehorse foundations are suitable for a 2 tier already.
Problem with this is fitting in the lucrative hospitality boxes

Never short of people wanting to be negative toward Palace. After following Palace, for many ,many years,. The question always returns to , why this attitude, and why certainly since the war do Palace always get blocked anyway. When so many clubs , even in London, have improved facilities out of sight, with little or no real opposition, certainly none that wasn’t easily brushed aside?

Inside Croydon is full of sh*t, not impressed you have cut and pasted that here.

The Section 106 wasn’t signed before the new London Plan came into force, apparently due to a breakdown in relations with Croydon Council that have now been resolved.

A Section 106 is a legal agreement between an applicant seeking planning permission and the local planning authority, which is used to mitigate the impact of the new building on the local community and infrastructure.

It is likely a Compulsory Purchase Order will be served on Sainsbury’s if necessary.

The planning application didn’t lapse but a new one will now need to be put in, as the terms set out in the 2018 planning application do not comply with the London Plan adopted in 2021.

I feel zero sympathy for the Wooderson Close residents for many reasons, not least they moved there knowing they were in the shadow of a ble*ding great big stadium. Hard to miss really. And never likely to stand still at least figuratively and possibly also literally by all accounts

Well said.

It is quite ridiculous to move next to a stadium and not expect progressive activity of some sort.

It’s the way of the world. Stories of people moving next to live music venues and then getting them shut down because of the noise are legion

Here in the sticks it's folk who move out of the smoke next door to an old church where they have rung the bells every Sunday for 800 years, then compain and make a fuss about being woken up early. Not to mention the bloody chickens!

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.
