Chelsea are spending a lot of money creating a strong squad of players. Does this mean we have a realistic chance of signing the much loved fan favourite Conor Gallagher? I am starting to believe we may just get him!

I think there is a chance he becomes available, particularly if they do not revisit his contract and up his relatively low salary.

I do not think he did enough in his England appearances to feel confident about making the World Cup squad and he will need regular first-team appearances to give himself a realistic chance

He seemed to enjoy his time here and could still live in London so those are attractions but he made a name for himself and would attract a hefty fee - which Palace may not have available. Also, he did tail off in the second half of the season, though that might have been a post-Covid impact

I would think the time to revisit this would be in January when we can see how the midfield is functioning and he will have a better idea of his future at Chelsea

He wants to stay at Chelsea and fight to get in their team.

Apparently met Tuchel in a pub back in April to tell him this (which was around the time his form dipped) but didn't bother telling Vieira!

I saw a slightly different version of the same / similar story in various news outlets - Apparently CG & Thomas Tuchel had a chance encounter in a restaurant, TT told CG that he wanted to keep him at CFC as he continued to be part of their plans going forward & I seem to remember PV vaguely talking about it in interviews, saying something politically correct like - we are monitoring the situation, of course CG & CFC speak to each other at various times in the season so both sides know where they stand.

I think it's pretty unlikely that he would be available and we'd be able to afford him.

I actually think we'd be better off going after Gilmour though. He'd be far better suited to our style going forward. Him and Doucoure as the two CM's with Eze in a free role in front of them would be perfect for us. Like Conor, he had an average loan spell at a relegated club, but think he'd really shine with us.

I liked Gilmour initially, then he went to Norwich & for some reason the fans took a dislike to him, no idea why but when we played them even the commentators on tv were talking about it.

They thought him a 'freak' for having only 10 fingers and 10 toes.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

I think his comments in the media this morning make it pretty clear that he's not going anywhere until at least January. His statement that he feels it's time to 'step up' after his Palace experience also suggests for now he believes he can play at a higher level than with us. Fair play to him and I wish him well, but to be honest I never for one minute thought he would come back anyway. Personally I think there would be more chance of us getting RLC back (although obviously his injury record is a big issue).

Stepping up presumably being a benchwarmer for (formerly) Chelski

Is this website no longer manned?
It’s got two Conor Gallagher blogs running side by side on the same subject.
