I don’t think viera would put him In ahead of mateta players like murray aren’t fashionable anymore as you said probably too English and There’s a reason England haven’t won a trophy for 50 odd years murray would have probably been an England international in the 80s

When you look at the number of one on ones Edouard, Mateta and Benteke squandered between them I think PV would have been crying out for a CF that could actually finish them off which is why Murray was such a good player and could still play now.

Anyway, enough about Murray, let’s talk about why we won’t be getting Gallagher until he has had a less than impressive season with Chelsea.

I think CG has made a big mistake.

He wants to play for Chelsea and England, he should ask Chelsea to go on loan to palace until January.

He would be guaranteed a first team place with us and if he performed well would go to the World Cup. Then in January he could assess the situation go back to Chelsea or stay with us until the end of the season.

The risk he runs now is that he is not a regular and so doesn't go to the world cup.

The thing is even if he gets to the World Cup Southgate won’t play him he’s not negative enough for Gareth

I am admitting in advance that I did not watch the previous match, rumors is he played well.
I live in Charlotte and watched the match last night and frankly CG looked like a fish out of water last night in the 2nd half. I don't know if it was because he was allowed more freedom under PV but he was a completely different player.
I was worried for my home team because I did not know who could cover him but he looked little like the CG we all know and love.
It was hard to not feel bad for him.
Then his PK......Wow. Highlights below: (PK at 4:15 mark)

I am not saying he did not make some good plays.
He just does not have the edge he played with and swagger, especially that he showed in the first half of the season last year.

There were times I thought he was best on the pitch last year for Palace against the best of the best. He was playing against what is mostly Charlotte's second choice players last night with the exception of Jozwiak (formerly or Derby County) and Shinyashiki. Everyone else was second or even third choice for the Crowns.

Connor, has to impress Tuchel, but these games are warm ups , and he looks busy enough if not flat out . That pen was one of those embarrassing moments that virtually everyone who has kicked a ball has at some time.
Connor, is quality, that could get even better, and even if he isn’t quiet ready for Chelsea, that is how it is. Can Connor accept it remains a waiting game at Chelsea, when he would get in a number of Premier sides.? Only he knows. If they sold him the fee is going to be high.

The bottom line in my opinion is he isn't that good.

That’s fair enough it’s always opinions. But then we only watch these people , and not employ them. So there still a lot of hope for Connor.
