Funny that with nostalgia the old power cuts seem like fun.

Germany is f***ed:

Nobody seems to make the connection between energy and other things like manufacturing.

Wait until the winter.

I think this could bring down the Euro.

I suppose it will prevent potential legionella in the water system. Every cloud and all that

I've been buying wind up torches as part of prep.

Good call, I already had a wind up lantern but I just ordered a torch / radio from Amazon £19 solar and hand crank. We have had a number of power cuts in my block over the years and everything is mains so this is a nice backup. I can also use it when I go on my outdoor breaks.

One more point

I'm buying it from a wind up merchant.

But it's not a wind up honest.

Very sensible.

For this winter my quota is three rechargeable battery torches (to tie from the ceiling fittings) for main rooms and three wind up torches for the other rooms.

I've reasoned that you need double the recharge batteries required...one set in while the other is charging and we are lucky that the missus's old man has a couple of generators.

Probably overkill and let's hope none of it's needed.

I think the war matters rather a lot.

However, I also agree with comments on the green agenda and the WEF's agenda generally.

The elites never suffer it's always the vulnerable who have to pay the price for their mistakes and/or social engineering.

re-read 1984. It's a conditioning of the population to a vulnerable existence, rather than living. The elites never had it so good.
Gas Shareholders paid massive dividends on profits that have more than quadrupled in 12 months.
Electricity charges also increasing way beyond inflation or reason.

This is the free-market economy on the rampage

Just buy some 2 kva generators 1000 gallons of petrol and a book on tapping your power supply. Isn’t really that hard tbh. Although you need to get a 2kw kettle and everything below this. Although your boiler probably only uses a kw or so but you need gas obs. Your washing machine might use more than 2 kw so get the wash board out

Looks like washing might have to be done in the bath!

I'd like to get generators but I'm in a built up area so the racket would get me strung up.

The missus's old man is out of town in a detached so his generators don't bother anyone..
