A ball-holding midfield general (which we still don't seem to have) and we can be confident.

Without one, the best we can expect is 'more of the same' mid-table.

Then take away Zaha and we may be in trouble.

All depends if Veira can find his best team early on.

It is within the realms of possibility that we could well suffer 3 defeats in our opening 4 PL games and be rock-bottom early in the season.
Personally I am far from confident that we will end the season in a higher position than in the last campaign.

At 500/1 (Sportsbet, 24/7/22) to win it is still worth a tenner.

Pray for 8th, Expect 10th, Settle for 12th.

Last year was the first year since promotion where the punditry and commentary on the English language international feeds contained the word 'established' in conjunction with the phrase 'premier league club' whilst referring to us.

I expect the Box Office will not have received my ticket reservation ala every year.
I suspect there will be no Palace Ale.
I expect I might add to my number of plastic bottles of Carlsberg at Selhurst.
The toilets in the Arthur will not be any better.
My orders from the club shop will still not have arrived.

Last year 8th and 14th were separated by 7 points. The prior year 12th - 15th separated by 2 points when 11th quite impressively and bizarrely got 55 points. The prior year 9th - 12th was 5 points

etc. mid-table will be separated by a fag paper as usual.

I think we'll be in the 9th - 14th conversation again and when we look back at the end of the season, it'll have come down to those moments which last year were last minute dropped points with Brighton, Arsenal, Leeds which robbed us of an arguably deserved top 10 finish. We were only 4 points off 8th with better goal difference.

Get the small moments go our way and we'll finish top 10, don't and we'll be back down around 14th.

Don't see any risk of top 6 or bottom 4.

My expectations are now sky high

[Link]

The club have announced that they have painted some steps and fixed the advertising that fell down halfway through last season.

We are in for a right treat!

I am merely stating my opinion and I accept I don't have the same elevated expectations as perhaps many of our supporters.

I do not envisage finishing above those teams that were higher placed in the table than ourselves last season, and I suspect both A.Villa and Everton, at least, will finish above us in the coming campaign.

Perhaps I will be proved wrong as I have been in the past.

Palace are a better team overall than Everton (defensively and attacking wise) With Villa, they have improved Kamara is a decent CDM and Diego Carlos will help them defensively. Attacking wise they have options but last season were inconsistent. I think Palace can finish higher than Villa providing Palace do not get major injuries this season. 1st-6th is nailed on: Man City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Spurs, Arsenal and Man United in no particular order.

Then last year West Ham were 7th, Palace 12th place finished only 8 pts behind them. Palace should have been top 10 last season but draws and losses to teams they are expected to beat cost them (Everton, Burnley and Leeds United)

Additionally to the top 6 teams mentioned above, I do expect Newcastle and West Ham to get top 8 or top 10 at the least. And then Palace, Aston Villa, Brighton and Leicester fighting for top 10. Would have included Wolves, but I think this year they will finish 11th to 15th.

Even with teams like West Ham and Newcastle I think Palace can still compete very well. Top 10 is possible but consistency is key. Palace need to win games they are expected to win.

I expect Everton to finish below us. Leicester may also have a poor season and Southampton may not improve. Brentford may have 2nd season syndrome and Leeds and Wolves will struggle.

Newcastle and Villa will do better that last year.

I still expect a top 10 finish from Palace.

Different clubs have different views as to what constitutes a "Poor season" for them.We could finish 12th as we did last season and I suspect that this will not be viewed in such negative terms.
Should Leicester end the season in 12th position, after finishing 8th last season, they might well be very disappointed.
In my opinion Leicester will finish above us in the table.

You have very blinked views about Palace you look for reasons why other teams will finish above us not how much stronger our squad has got , I look for positives then see how this all fits in with the bigger picture , you look for negatives and find reason not tobe positive
