Do they fart more methane than other creatures then?

What, the four horsemen, their horses or the wild beasts?

Methane accounted for 12% of the UK’s greenhouse gas emissions in 2019.

Methane is emitted from both natural sources, such as wetlands, and human activities like wastewater treatment, industry, and livestock farming. In the UK, the latter is the largest source of methane emissions, primarily from cattle raised for both meat and dairy products.

Currently about 55% by weight of the UK’s cereal production (wheat, barley and oats) goes on animal feed.

So for our part we need to shift to grass based diets for ruminants and reduce the amount of livestock, but not to the point where we lose the benefits of the manure they produce and the carbon they help sequester by pushing plant matter into the ground whilst grazing.

Get on any international flight and tell me from 5000ft that cow burps etc are likely to be a problem. We are at a point where people will believe anything they are told.

Shocking.

Meanwhile:

You do wonder that if all the great and the good were actually genuinely concerned about climate change why they tend to buy wealthy beach front properties.....wouldn't they be concerned about rising sea levels.

I mean Obama owns one in Hawaii.....personally I don't think they give a feck.

They wouldn't even be able to insure them if it was at all likely a problem. Sea level has been put forward as a problem for decades and literally nothing ever happened. Of course it didn't.

Well we get flooding but ironically it’s always on a former or at least known flood plain. Wtf do people expect when for eons it’s known as being the said flood plan. Katrina in the USA flooded a flood plain. There are some dumbens out there

Yes, your mind is closed. I guess it ran out of space

I can't allow your various nonsenses to go without comment

You agree that anthropogenic climate change exists, you just don't agree how critical that is. By the time you have made up your mind it will be too late. Where on Earth do you get your ideas? In the cess pit of the right wing headbanger interweb presumably.

Yes, you are correct that Methane is 25 times more effective as a greenhouse gas than CO2. Methane levels have roughly doubled in the past 200 years, as have CO2 levels. Methane is a carbon product.

China, the United States, Russia, India, Brazil, Indonesia, Nigeria, and Mexico are estimated to be responsible for nearly half of all anthropogenic methane emissions. A key source of methane emissions in China is coal production, whereas Russia emits most of its methane from natural gas and oil systems which leak and where the methane is largely not captured for energy.

The largest sources of methane emissions from human activities in the United States are oil and gas systems, livestock enteric fermentation, and landfills. Note, however, that methane degrades quite rapidly so leaves the atmosphere within around 9 years. Also a point of interest, termites produce more methane than cows and UK farming produces less methane per cow than other countries. We are working on new feeds to minimise methane production.

So what is your point? That it doesn't matter how much carbon we chuck into the atmosphere or that we are addressing the wrong issue?

Maybe when the methane is released from the permafrost your view may change.

At the moment it rather appears to be 'if I stick my head up my a*se it will disappear'.

FYI I don’t read right wing news for my school boy kicks. On HOL I read other posters and look at their links from left and right. Then I look farther with certain info posters put and the links related and certain points included. I stated that insects cause a lot of methane in a previous post. They outnumber us by a massive factor so you stating the termite line must mean you cherry picked what to read. I’ve posted on another thread where I’m at with this green crap and if I thought plod wouldn’t nick me (which they would) I would go to speakers corner. Sadly the ‘green’ crap is untouchable, like a hurty words so no point unless I want to be unemployed and homeless. You on the other hand appear to be very concerned and very affluent. If you want you can buy me a heat pump and solar panels which I’m sure would give you a great sense of well-being knowing how bad emissions are and preventing me producing any. Bring it on and PM me if you wish to pursue helping me save the planet!

You'd think the clue was in the name. Mind you people choose to live in trailers in Tornado Alley as well.

And it’s human induced climate change. If it wasn’t so sad it would be funny !!!

Termites are the big producer, no cherry picking. You are being taken for a mug and making it very easy for the vested interests. You do not read around the topic, just consume what you are given. I suggest you watch Big Oil v The World, it would make most people pause for thought.

It isn’t green crap, it is universally accepted science. But hey, I guess there is marginal doubt over which effect will kill the most people, ergo it doesn’t exist until that is proven.

But on the upside you're so invested in the problem the rest of us don't have to bother.

Yes, I am sure you won’t. Perhaps in the end you will be judged for that, along with Lee Raymond.

And perhaps I won't. Perhaps I'll be sitting back having a smoke and a few pints instead of singing about my burning concern over an issue I can't affect.
