I did not really care then and still don't now.

A myth has been built around the woman that as with all myths probably bears no actual relationship to reality.

She was then and is now the focus of some when they seek a mass outpouring of grief.

My only abiding memory of the whole thing was that at the time I was working in Kensington and you could not move without coming across a weeping person, piles of flowers or a man selling quickly produced memorial tat.

I met her once and was kind of mesmerised. The only other famous person to have a similar effect on me was Joanna Lumley. Very beautiful in the flesh so to speak. Overall, the whole thing a bit of a shame.
Can we not skip Charles and go straight to William? Come on parliament, do us a favour.

Agreed. If I was Charles after his mum dies I would tell the country he will step down after 5 years.

I p$d myself laughing at the 'mourners'. Those who queued for hours to sign a book of condolence, the mountains of flowers left at Royal residences every day, and of particular hilarity, the funeral procession with people crying and throwing flowers at her coffin.
I so wanted a Mexican wave to start alongside the cortege, just to highlight the absolute ridiculousness of the 'event'.

Yep, it was totally ridiculous.

Rich middle easteners should have paid for that funeral as she spent most of the last ten years of her life banging them.

English rose my bellend.

Elgar wrote great stuff but rather ironically Jerusalem is the patriotic song I most like....should be the English anthem.

Back when this country produced men worthy of it.

As a younger man it's hard not to take offence to this.

All the other blokes in my tanning salon and vegan pottery class agree too, one even spilled his soy latte upon hearing this.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Isn't it? At least in the Commonwealth Games.

She ain't dead.

She's living on an island, riding Shergar and drinking cocktails with Elvis, JFK and Lord Lucan.

Now that made me laugh - thankyou!

Yeah your probably right. Got the impression she was a bit of an old bike.

Not a bike me thinks but she certainly enjoyed a bit of pork!
Will Carling has a tale or two to tell plus a couple of City gentlemen who have some stories as well.
Lucky boys in my opinion!
