Yet another distortion. I am beginning to think you have an obsession with trying to rewrite my opinions.

I have never suggested that police resources were the only issue, only that we need to cut them some slack when we ask them to do so many things that it's impossible for them to do them all. That so many police forces seem to have adopted the same strategy suggests to me that there was some co-ordination behind it. Which further suggests that not only was the scale misunderstood centrally, but that another approach was considered the appropriate way to handle things. The police taking the heat for a centrally determined policy, if indeed that's what it was, seems unreasonable.

My approach has always been that those responsible are criminals and deserve to be found and punished. However, the over-riding priority had to be the safety of the victims and to stop as many further occurrences as possible. The way to do that doesn't necessarily involve just the police. Social workers, schools and community groups are just as important.

I would not have wanted to have been the ones trying to decide how to achieve the best outcome. You are bound to get mud slung at you from somewhere. Slinging mud is easy. Writing reports with the benefit of hindsight is useful to learn lessons and improve outcomes. Always getting things right the first time, impossible.

How many girls suffered because this policy continued for over twenty years? No defence of whoever took the decisions can ever mitegate the misery caused.

.

Of course it can’t.

What no-one knows is whether even more would have suffered had it not been adopted. I don’t. People might think they know but it’s unknowable. Some folk think they are experts at everything but until anyone actually has to weigh all the competing considerations they cannot be. With hindsight it looks unlikely but that’s all it is.

All that can be done is evaluate what we do know and try to do better.

People should be blamed if they fall to do their job. Not if they make decisions they honestly believe to be correct, but you disagree with..

How can a decision not to pursue said criminals because they are not white ever be correct. You then caveat with even if we disagree. Ffs girls were raped and everyone around was terrified to flag it up in case they got called racist. Apart from one individual who got laughed at by a very well to do talk show host; the posh boy knob head!

It's not a question of me or anyone else disagreeing. The decisions taken were wrong and people lose their jobs for wrong decisions regardless of the sentiment behind them but this is not even so much about the decisions taken as the reasons they were taken.
And to repeat this situation carried on for twenty years; it had gone far beyond "wait and see".

Yeah, from the sound of it you're one of them.

Your clarification is a distinction without a difference and was read clearly the first time.

So if you read said post-"How long does a yellow last MODS"?, why did you choose to reply if you aren"t a mod? I thought gosh, I didn"t realise stirls was a mod, but of course he isn"t! Just had to reply to a post not directed at him, then says he understood the post?

How on earth do you know that was the policy? It’s just your opinion of what the policy was.

You think they were wrong. So might I with the benefit of hindsight but then, again I don’t know nearly as much as those with the actual responsibility did.

It’s always easy to be wise after the event and even easier to throw mud. Actually doing things at the time you need to make decisions with the information you have then is not so easy.

We all are well aware Croydon that you aren't that bright but even you should understand by now that a mod link appears below every post and within your profile a send message link is also available to contact a mod.

So if you were seriously trying to only communicate with mods the means was and is available to you.

And those with some of the responsibility have subsequently issued apologies. Once again this is not entirely about the decisions taken but the logic behind them.
Something to think about next time anything is summarily dismissed as a conspiracy theory.
