It’s always easy to be wise after the event and even easier to throw mud. Actually doing things at the time you need to make decisions with the information you have then is not so easy. With said hindsight I think after the first report of grooming was long enough after the event; to think it was serious enough to at a minimum investigate without fear of being called a racist. Your spaghetti word soup around this seems to be turning Klingon.

You are assuming this and perhaps imposing your own attitudes. Most of my comments on this relate to Yaxley-Lennon and his activities. From all I observe he has shown no real interest in the victims at all, not comforted any or given financial support. I want the girls protected as much as anyone and the criminals brought to justice. As I believe that most of the problems start in the interpretation of their faith given them to them by religious teachers I also want to stop that at source. I want ALL religion removed from our schools.

I want ALL religion removed from our schools. Well he has supported many Muslims. He had Muslim members in EDF. The state has ruined him financially so no help available. You do show a very one eyed view of all of this. There are 5 links to the reason it wasn’t jumped on sooner and probably 100s more but not one is believed to be the truth iyo.

I think you are making the same mistake as the journalists seeking a story. Just because any observer thinks they know a motive doesn’t mean they do. I don’t doubt for a moment that being sensitive to community relationships would have been a major consideration but that doesn’t equal being scared of being considered racist. All it means is being aware of the need to not make things worse. The police need the communities on their side and to drive wedges between them and the criminals.

Journalists from the BBC, ITV, LBC and Sky, as well as many others, all report this and they're all wrong.

They use emotive language. Posters here get very upset when described as racist don’t they? Feel it’s inaccurate. I think the ex police commissioner was more objective with his words. This wasn’t people concerned about being thought racist. It was people being mindful of the need to keep the community onside and not alienate them further, making detection even harder than it already was. It’s not so dissimilar to the need to reach out to the criminal underworld in Liverpool over that little girl’s murder.

And yet victims in Oldham and Rochdale received apologies and damages for failures in investigation.
