Blimey, there were so many good programmes. Today's TV is appalling in comparison.

The highlighted ones can still be enjoyed on Talking Pictures TV (82 Freeview).

I have been watching re-runs of Public Eye with Alfred Burke. Fairly low budget productions but it is enjoyable to watch something that isn't "dark" and "edgy" and I like the dour Frank Marker character plodding around Windsor ( or Brighton in early episodes) exposing embezzlers and adulterers.

Others that I enjoy/enjoyed -
Rumpole of the Bailey
Return of the Likely Lads ( I believe most of the original 60s episodes were wiped)
The Avengers ( the 60s version)
Do Not Adjust Your Set (with the Bonzos as the house band)
The Rockford Files
Thank Your Lucky Stars ( on which I first encountered The Beatles)

Yes, that's right Pete. TPTV is brilliant for us old'uns and their catch-up channel has classic old films in abundance too.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

That is a classic, the episode i like best is when Kid Curry kills Roger Davis, who took over from Pete Duel, after he comitted suicide, when he stole the gold and left Hayes, Curry and the old boy to die

“That’s a joke son, I say, that’s a joke.” “Nice boy, but he’s sharp as a throw pillow.” “He’s so dumb he thinks a Mexican border pays rent” “ “Son… I say, son, some people are so narrow minded they can look through a keyhole with both eyes.”__ Forhorn Leghorn

I'm not sure this is correct. I used to read sci-fi books as a youngster, and I'm sure 'Homo Superior' appears in some of those novels. I can't remember which title or author, but maybe Asimov or Stapledon, or similar. I certainly remember hearing it sung by Bowie and associating the term with a fictional master race that I had read about.

These days it's more about the programmes I CAN'T remember, like last week's episode of Shetland when I'm sitting down to watch the next one!

F Troop
Hogan's Heroes
The Beverley Hillbillies

One that scared me s***less and gave me nightmares was The Tellygoons. It's the puppet thing; I was the same with Punch and Judy shows.

I would add Green Acres to those three. That was a strangely surreal programme from Arnold the TV watching pig to Mr. Kimball who was completely bonkers.
