Benteke has played in 45 games for Belgium and has scored against nations far higher ranked than San Marino and the Faeroe Islands.

When he hangs up his boots he can be proud of his achievements when he reflects on his career.

When he took that penalty he hadn't scored in that game nor in the previous 11 games.I suspect he was desperate to score and thought that a penalty would provide him with a good opportunity to do so.

He clearly hasn't learnt from previous experience then. He is simply not very good at penalties - and that's a fact

Certainly not a good record, only scoring 12 out of 20 penalties he has taken in his entire career.

I take it that will all be before the start of his second season at Palace?

I'm surprised DC United allowed him to take a penalty. I was led to believe they signed him primarily to hold the umbrella for the manager in the winter.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

When he hangs up his boots he can be proud of his achievements when he reflects on his career.

He can be happy with the fortune he has amassed.

I have now sufficient funds to last me the rest of my life. Provided I don't buy anything.

On a serious note though can he really?? He was prolific for about 3 seasons which over the course of a professional footballers career isn't that long... Personally I think he's been very lucky to of earned so much money for being, over the course of his career pretty average. And it pains me to say our club has contributed largely to his fortune.

Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!!

Didn't Mr Pardew describe the decision to sign Benteke as "a no- brainer"?

Proud that he made it as a pro footballer, an achievement in anyone's books.

Personally I think he has failed to hit anywhere near his potential.

A good season at Genk, 3 good seasons with Villa, and 1 good season with us. Got a big move and shipped off after a season. Limped out of the premier league after 5 pretty poor seasons for us.

From the age of around 19-23 he had real hunger, and was a player on the up. The Liverpool move obviously killed his confidence, and he has never really recovered.

Might have coincided with the game changing, moving towards a possession based high press game that he isn't suited for.

Yes, the same Mr Pardew that has been Sacked 8 times as a manager

“That’s a joke son, I say, that’s a joke.” “Nice boy, but he’s sharp as a throw pillow.” “He’s so dumb he thinks a Mexican border pays rent” “ “Son… I say, son, some people are so narrow minded they can look through a keyhole with both eyes.”__ Forhorn Leghorn

Well according to Wikipedia, Pardew has been sacked 3 times and has "left by mutual consent" 3 times. By comparison "the special one" Jose Mourinho has been sacked 5 times.
