Squad just announced. Marc Guehi is in, but as expected no space for Mitchel.

With Maguire not starting at United, Marc may have a chance to stake a claim. I really do think England's strongest CB paring would be Marc with Stones or Tomori.

Sub-note: Connor did not make the squad, which in all likelihood means he's unlikely to be selected for the Wold Cup. Which whilst disappointing for him, is good for teams like us. There is huge benefit to being at a settled club, playing week in, week out.

The Wold Cup - a tournament between representatives of England's hill ranges - is probably the best he'll get.

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)

A very genuine 'LOL' from me, more a chuckle actually but nonetheless!

Also worth noting Kofi Balmer has been called up for NI.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

More disappointed for Eze than Mitchell, who has been superb in recent weeks. Especially given that the likes of Phillips, Grealish and Bowen are in there despite either barely playing or not playing particularly well.

Gareth has to call up his favourites though, no reason for Maguire or Coady to be there either frankly.

And Gallagher should have come back to us.

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold...

The note on Gallagher is so accurate. Couldn’t understand why he went back to Chelsea
Knowing full well he wasn’t going to get much game time Compared to being at palace.

He's a Chelsea fan, and so are his family.

I've got to the stage where I don't want our players picked for internationals, more of a nuisance. However, if they are I wish them well. I guess it helps us attract better players.

Southgate hasnt got a clue who to pick, Eze should be in it, why is Maguire in, Southgate said players not playing won't be picked. also, he is awful, he is like a CD of about 20 years ago

“That’s a joke son, I say, that’s a joke.” “Nice boy, but he’s sharp as a throw pillow.” “He’s so dumb he thinks a Mexican border pays rent” “ “Son… I say, son, some people are so narrow minded they can look through a keyhole with both eyes.”__ Forhorn Leghorn

Whilst you are not wrong on Maguire, and Southgate's comments on playing. To be fair to him Maguire has played well for England, so deserves a bit of slack.

Its probably a little to early for Eze, but we know Southgate was going to pick him before. He just needs to keep his head down and play himself it to it in October.

This tournament arranged by crooks in a totally inappropriate venue, is a complete pain in the anus.

All I hope is, that none of our players get injured. That's if any are going.

What a complete FU this season is.

I have now sufficient funds to last me the rest of my life. Provided I don't buy anything.

I am not intending to be controversial here, but will say 2 things. I think Guehi is a great young player, but has looked a lot less assured at the start of this season than at the end of last. Should not be considered for England currently. And despite all the nay-sayers, I remember in the last Euros seeing the early games and thinking we were not missing Maguire. Then he was fit, and the difference he made was huge, striding forward and picking passes and creating attacking threat in addition to defensive solidity. Also in my sincere opinion dedicated to the England cause. Not at the top of his form currently but should be supported and encouraged, not slagged off. I am sure I will be given a hard time for this post, but the site is all about opinions.
