I wonder if the afterlife is a bit like the final scene in 'Gladiator' where Maximus is drawn through a door towards the vision of his already-dead wife and son. A momentary joyous vision, but to the dying person an eternity.

For me, that would be 'Who the f*** is that?', cute, but I never had a farm.

I suppose the event of death is the most terrifying aspect. Being tortured by the likes of Islamic State, or going peacefully in your sleep, surrounded by prostitutes and the finest class A drugs.
Oblivion, (much like it was for me pre-1 9 6 8 ) seems the obvious conclusion. I'm not into religion, and they seem to only offer Afterlife to believers.
Should I turn to Religion in order to enjoy an Afterlife, or is it just a scam to take my money in the here-and-now ?
Some religions offer 1000 virgins in their Aferlife, but would that be enough to last forever ? And who are these virgins, and why has no-one ever knobbed them ?

So I guess Religion and an Afterlife takes too much arranging for me to be bothered with now. I just hope my death is quick and painless and I'll be in eternal slumber, like falling asleep after many pints of snakebite in front of the TV, which eventually switches itself to stand-by.

I think the idea of an eternal after life is more terrifying than oblivion.

He wants to live for ever imagine you are trapped in HOL World where you argue with the same people over Brexit and Palace for eternity.

No thanks I will pass.

Can you give some examples of those religions?

Well Cryst, from you i detect a fear of death and an existential worry. Fear not. The oblivion we all go to is a harmless, painless nothingness. Like a very deep sleep. Without any annoying gods on horseback doing stupid things with thunderbolts.

A million eh. I will get my oujia board out and get back to you. Are you doing cash or bank transfer I don’t think I fear death, drink , fags, bad food and no meaningful exercise might answer that I reckon.

There are a few threads in the Politics section that are very much like Groundhog Day, every day.

I suppose the biggest argument against an afterlife is the fact Colin Fry seems to have gone very quiet since he died.

Oblivion is a solace and highly likely , i reckon.

Man created God.

I'm reluctant to pass judgment on whether there is an afterlife or a God because our understanding of anything is so spectacularly limited. We can't even understand why Schlupp is in the team. But given that this world is such an amazing creation, I live in hope that death is not the end of the journey.

Syd, the big man will come for you when he’s ready. None of us want to die but inevitably we all will. Try not to stress about something you basically have no control over. That will help for sure

But who created man?

You cannot make living matter out of dead matter, so how did the first living matter come to be?
