Good for him.

He has the policies in mind that I would like to see: more left wing, please.

Convince the electorate that it's in their interests to get rid of the Tories, along with their lobbying mates, and get down to the business of redistributing wealth from the rich to the hard-working poor, who have been and continue to be driven down by these self-interested beasts.

All of a sudden, the 'leftie' 'communist' idea of renationalising the utilities and trains is acceptable, isn't it? Even to those blue-rinse tories. How times change.

Trickle - down? Yeah right. Property owning democracy? -Pipe dream.

Burnham has the charisma to convince working people that it is time for change and why it is time for change of government and policies.

Of course, it's policies that count but also the messenger and while I have no doubt that Starmer is an honourable man, he has the charisma of a garden snail, I'm afraid.

What about the lazy, feckless poor - what we going to do with them?

The annual benefits bill is about 220 billion. I don't blame people for claiming if, and I agree helping people who need it is important, but in most places in the world a large amount of people would have to fend for themselves and use initiative.

I arrange car finance for people with bad credit through sub prime lenders and am genuinely shocked at how much money some people are claiming.

They should end conference with the theme tune to The Archers. Great tactical move for the lower middles.

Haha. I'm chuckling, mate.

I shall be 'Hot-footing' up to Birmingham for Conference and will arrive in time for the opening debate on Sunday at 14.30.
I am looking forward to pressing the flesh of the glitterati and engaging in discussion.

I am not expecting to hear the 'Archers' theme tune at the end of this prestigious event !

Always important to check that people are not abusing the system but, unlike a lot of people, I wouldn't throw the baby out with the bathwater, to coin a phrase: benefits are, basically, a good thing imo.

Also, while the fat controllers of multi - nationals and big business continue to drive down wages further and further, there will be even less social mobility, which is so corrosive for our society.

And yes - there is such a thing as society.

Beethoven's death march would be more appropriate.

Having bankrupted the country in only 20 days how does your Truss glee club look now.

Suffice to say we are not aligned on this matter.
I do not accept such dramatic 'Doom & gloom' chimerical rhetoric.
Clearly I will have numerous discussions with the great and good about recent events.

I have voted Conservative all my life but when the nominations for the next party leader / Prime Minister were down to just two people I posted on here that if Cheese Lover Truss won I would never vote Conservative again and it looks like my mistrust of her ability is being proved right in just a few short weeks

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.

I have always disagreed with privatising water. I would happily see rail nationalised if we could replicate the systems in Europe such as Italy or France, but they have outlawed strikes on essential services which Lynch and his outdated cronies would never accept.

You have the ridiculous situation in UK where offers from employers do not have to be put to the membership for ballot so a few self serving union officials control the process.

I still remember as a caveat the appalling service and constant strikes of British Rail, bit I don't remember having to stand very often which I think is a sign of vastly increased usage as the population has grown.

Economically Blair was ok for the first few years then it all went to s***. There has to be a middle road somewhere

The 2008 banking crisis in UK was a result to a large extent of the deregulation that Blair and Brown instigated.

You can see Andy Burnham grimacing during Starmer's speech as he plots his coup, giving Starmer the same look Stalin gave Trotsky

Welcome to my world with Labour and Blair. And I've stuck to it.
