But you are making assumptions.

The council did not say they cancelled the event due to public safety concerns their statement is quite clear as to why they cancelled it.

And now you will not believe the BBC an organisation you defend all the time.

Clutching at straws.

Just looked up Nottingham City Council they are under special measures due to financial mismanagement. Perhaps they ought to focus on delivering services to the communities rather than virtue signalling.

I wonder what the good burghers of Nottingham would prefer they do.

We are all making assumptions.

Was that statement by the council all they said, or was what was reported a selected extract? I don't know, do you? So it's not clear at all.

I certainly trust the editorial standards of the BBC over most, if not all, newspapers. I am sure they wouldn't deliberately, and with malign intent, miss elements out their report. However, unless they attended the meeting, and heard the debate, they might not be fully aware of them.

At the end of the day it is their space, and it's for them to decide who can use it. Other spaces are available. It was the short notice which was particularly unreasonable.

It's ought not be a vital component to this issue though. It is only because of a fear that a group of people, who mean no harm to anyone, are going to behave in ways they won't. Of course no-one thinks men should be allowed into spaces where they can make women feel uncomfortable. Transgenders aren't though men, so as long as they are discrete, and respectful, other women won't even be aware of their presence, let alone be threatened by them.

It just requires common sense, awareness, respect and compassion to prevail.

But physically, unless fully transitioned in which case there's no issue, they are men regardless of how they identify and like any group of people they won't all be discrete and respectful. Some may be happy to let a man get changed next to their wife or young daughter but lots of others won't.

Glass rods up a blind alley is not equivalence.

I suppose what matters is whether you believe physical or emotional attributes define a person.

It seems that the experts, who we must assume know more than non-experts, have decided it's the emotional.

Luckily those experts don't arrange boxing matches or definitions other than emotional might become clear.

We are just going round in circles, aren't we?

The transgenders, and the experts, both believe they are women, whether or not they have had, or intend to have, surgery. Do you want to force surgery onto someone who doesn't want it, just because it upsets your, or another's, sensitivities?

If anyone behaves inappropriately, in any way at all, then they deserve to be thrown out and banned. For the others, if no-one knows, why make a fuss? If you do, you send women into a male area. How is that better?

The education is obviously urgently needed.

If you claim the only difference is emotional then I agree. It is. Very urgently.

So won't female to male transgender people be in the male area?

But no woman that I know would ever want to have a p**** and testicles, so why wouldn't they want surgery to get rid of those 'inappropriate' male appendages?

Strangely, all the trans women I have had contact with couldn't wait to 'normalise' their bodies with their belief.

Many people have physical differences to what is thought “normal”!

Why is this any different?

I believe so. Using a cubicle to avoid embarrassment.

What's different in a male/female boxing match? A huge amount.
