There's a certain irony to the fact that the man in a position which is so influential upon, and critical to, world affairs is often unaware as to where he even is.

The decline of the west.

Oh Trump would have talked to Putin!

He is so indebted to him he would have agreed to everything he wanted. NATO would have been stymied by US intransigence, no support to Ukraine would have arrived, and no US sanctions.

By now the whole of Ukraine would have been controlled by Russia, whose army would be intact and ready for the next expansion into the former USSR countries.

Putin would not have stopped until the USSR was re-established and Trump would have aided and abetted the criminal.

No-one likes the current situation but it’s better than the alternative. The Biden administration has had the wisdom to see that, the resolve to carry it through and the skills to lead a coalition of the willing.

Anyone who thinks Trump would have handled this better has a poor grasp of reality. He would have been worse than the appeasers who want to give Putin what he says he wants. No need to appease when you serve the dish yourself wrapped up in ignorance.

Some people clearly still think we would be “better red than dead”! Which given their politics is a little surprising.

I wrote quite an angry reply but I deleted it.

I just can't be bothered with the likes of you.

I agree with your comments. Considerable self control is required in order not to respond to some of the total rubbish written on here.

I now think best way is to ignore and the self indulgent , deprived of an audience here may hopefully seek self satisfaction elsewhere.

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.

Seconded.

Remember those leftists screaming that Trump in office meant that WW3 could happen.

You don't hear a peep from those hypocrites now.

Before Biden took office I said he'd be the ruin of the economy.

Happened.....in fact because of the idiocy of the Democrats it's much worse that I'd feared.

I said that Biden in office would be a foreign policy disaster.

I never expected it to be quite as bad as this.....Afganistan was a utter embarrassment but now we stand on the edge of WW3.

Trump could have talked to Putin, whereas this cretin can barely talk and ruined that relationship many moons ago.

Anyone who supported Biden needs to take a long hard look in the mirror because they need to smell the coffee and equate what they preferred with what the outcome has been.

Still....no mean tweets.

It's a complete and utter fecking disaster.

As replies bereft of reason, but full of spite, are frequent here I suppose we should be grateful for that.

I have often suggested that you have no need to read my observations and even less need to reply.

I just feel reassured that the western world cannot be bothered with the likes of you, and those who share the echo chambers you delight in. You carry on massaging each other’s egos if it makes you happy and keeps you occupied.

Your whole theory on this depends on the notion that Putin and his cohort are rational and think as we do. History, both of the past and more recent, shows that to be dangerously untrue. They are not driven by reason.

Whatever decisions are made are full of jeopardy. The difficulty is determining the ultimately safest ones. Unlike you I don’t pretend to be an expert on such matters. I leave that up to those who are.

Yep, that lot gave us Biden....I expect most of the plonkers who voted for him now have buyer's remorse. If we are all still here in November the Democrats are going to lose heavily and regardless of what people feel about their social, crime and home affairs policies it will be justice for incredible levels of economic and foreign policy incompetence.

Unfortunately, these nutters can't be kicked out for another two years but at least we go from a zombie president to a zombie, even more, lame duck president.

Trump was wild and loose but at least he knew what he was saying. This Biden dude don’t have a scooby if he needs a new nappy or what son of his f***ed up.

I seriously doubt that.

When you are faced with a choice between the worst President in history, someone who has tried to overturn democracy, and anyone else, your first priority must always be to get rid of the bad apple.

What follows can be managed, with good advice and sensible institutions. As I said years ago, Micky Mouse was preferable to Trump. That some of you think that's what we have got doesn't alter the fact that it's preferable to Trump still being there.

If anyone watched the BBC 2 documentary last night on the possibility of a Trump run in 2024 you will know just how indoctrinated his base are. What was only covered in passing was the level of determination in others to see this never happens again.
