Large scale immigration of young uneducated migrants cannot be good for the economy. As well as depressing wages these people will start families and need housing health and education for their kids. Then there are the benefits they claim. The Tories talked about banning immigrants from claiming benefits for 5 years I don't know if they ever did or if that was all talk. As far as I am concerned if employers want to offer migrants McJobs then they can pay for their housing and health and education as well. Controlled migration aimed at qualified people who can fill temporary gaps in our job market is fine. So far the Tories have completely failed to control immigration.

That's across the whole of Europe more or less. People have been squeezed for a long time and now being squeezed more. My friend in France told me she got petrol for the first time in two weeks the other day.

Some on here won’t mind that as long as we are back in the good old EU getting bum f***ed for every penny and being subservient dicks. One of them gets his fuel payed for by passengers at an exorbitant rate and the other might not be driving far anytime, if at all. Why would they care?

I can only comment on what I observe myself, and that is a significant increase in the numbers of immigrants from Africa and Asia locally since Brexit. Businesses don't want "cheap" labour. Right now they just need labour, for without it they will die.

No-one is "exploiting" immigrant labour when it isn't available locally and it must be found to ensure your business survives. Finding ways to increase the local pool from those who are better off not working at all, is something I would support 100%, but that needs time, investment, supervision and significant planning. It won't happen overnight and cannot solve today's problems.

I am not so sure the evidence actually bears that out. Young, uneducated migrants determined to make a better life for themselves are prepared to suffer much more hardship and work harder than some of our own young people, who have grown up expecting to be given things. Sure, they need housing, and their children need education, but so does everyone who contributes to our economy.

I want us to have a seat at the table, and a voice, that allows us to participate in decision making, rather than just be affected by them. Fuel is part of many businesses costs, and has to be passed on. How far anyone drives is a personal choice, but those with limited public transport options often face limited choices.

The uk has always been looked down on so maybe now with our dough missing it may be proving that we should have had a better seat at the table. Until the EU can offer that seat they can do one imho.

What you're advocating here is the same sort of slave labour market criticised in other countries.
