Some believe in freedom of speech, others freedom of their own speech. Unfortunately for the latter many believe in both.

Yep, many of them are fine with speech that chimes with their own ideas or biases....like this photo for example, but they would agree with shutting down West's speech because that to them is real 'hate'.

Many of them are fine with 'hate' when they think it's justified...their own of course. They just don't think anyone else with the opposite view to them should be allowed to express themselves.....I say that knowing that the whole 'hate' term nonsense is just a tactic they use to scare people away from opinions they don't like.

Not many people know that the Soviets used the same tactics and tried to make the west adopt them through the UN after WW2.....The western countries refused back then only for later generations to embarrass their forebears.

Free Speech does not exist.

Many of every political hue aspire to it, many say it really either does or could exist but it never will and never can exist as there will always be some group or other that takes offence

The MSM and social media have been in overdrive about Musk taking over Twitter with organised campaigns to persuade advertisers to boycott it and users to switch to other platforms.

Then when he announced job cuts they all seem to get upset about it even though business experts pointed out that the Tech sector is in trouble. Of course the same people who were campaigning to oust Musk and get advertisers to boycott will no doubt be the loudest complainers now that he is sacking people. I mean what did they expect?

Any how Facebook has just announced it intends to make similar job cuts I look forward to the same feeding frenzy but I wont hold my breath.

I'm surprised no one has commentated on Laurence Fox's lost libel action.

Whilst I agree with some things he has said about the woke he really did lose the plot over this. You can't just accuse someone of being a paedo without some sort of evidence to back it up.

He is now in big trouble financially and reputationaly and to be fair this shows the limits of free speech and I don't have a problem with it.

Free speech is not a free for all where you can just say what you like about anyone so he only has himself to blame.

I agree that when it comes to calling people paedos without evidence it scores pretty highly on the offence meter. Outside of that though I don't agree with anything they have done to him previously.

The big problem here is of course that because of Blair and the liberal establishment the law now operates on 'perception' of offence. Essentially it frees liberals to run riot.

So if you have a significant audience like Fox and have opinions then they are going to do a 'Katie Hopkins' on you (she lost her house)...essentially because they can.

Fox is going to lose his shirt if he carries on like this....Hopkins had some good advice for him.

There is the additional point that silly and petty cases like this feel like a waste of high court time.

Quite a measured POV from Katie although in LF's case he really didn't have a leg to stand on.

My guess is that he just got caught up in a social media spat and hasn't had the commonsense to back out of it.

Wary of the likes of Fox. Not a wise man in many, many ways. An unhelpful distraction.
