I think Guaita wants to go back to Spain, McArthur is finished, Ward might get a year and Butland would be a good back up for Johnstone

I heard that about Guaita last year, he’s still no 1.
MacArthur was our best player (with Gallagher ) 12 months ago, now he’s finished.
Ward plays every game. I don’t know much about Butland , apart from what I saw at the den last year. Who’s Johnstone. ??

Maybe its just because we are currently living it & last year / previous years are already fading into my ageing memory but I honestly think VG is currently having his best season with us-

With McArthur, Tomkins, Luka. Guaita, Clyne, Ayew, Butland, Ward, Schlupp, Ferguson and obviously Wilfs contracts all finishing at the end of the season, i suspect many will not be renewed. does anyone who knows the youngster's better than myself think any of them could make the step up. Rak-Sakyi and Plange seem to be doing well on loan, Banks not as well, mainly central midfielders and defenders

in terms of renewals there is no way luka will be offered a contract IMHO. He hasn't performed regularly for over 2 years now and as one of our highest earners he must go. Same with Tomkins. Good defender, when fit, but clearly not a PV player. Guaita wants to go back to Spain and i suspect Macca will go to Scotland. One of Clyne or Ward for me - not both.
For me if Fergie has an injury free run until the end of the season i can see him offered a deal. Clearly it's a big 'if'.
The WC break is like a pre season so has come at a good time for him.

Not sure if any of the youngsters will be ready for next season but would have no issue with maybe 3 or 4 being on the bench each week. Plange for 20 minutes seems an obvious one if we are losing. Same with Ebiowei, and Ozoh and O'Brien could be say 4th choice for their positions

Not much coming up thereafter if the rent U18 5-1 drubbing by Leicester is any indication.

Guaita, jimmy mac and ward won’t , but butland will. ??
Ha ha. Wind up surely.

Not at all - see Lanzo's post, with which I agree. I'd be happy for Guaita to stay but I'm not convinced he will. Obviously if he should stay then Butland probably won't get an offer as Johnstone is on a longer contract.

One bad result doesn't define a team. The U18s remain 2nd in their league (ahead of the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs but behind runaway leaders West Ham who were responsible for our other defeat (2-3 at our place after WH were 2 down at HT.)
