The economic situation gives the Republicans a significant chance, however it's also clear that more and more Americans *like* what the Democrat party is giving them, otherwise none of these races would even be close.

For instance the traditional Republicans tend to approve of continuing to support Ukraine whilst the MAGA types only look inward. I was thinking that but I heard another opinion today that makes sense.

Whilst it will certainly make things harder on some issues it may not on others where the GOP is far from united. For instance the traditional Republicans tend to approve of continuing to support Ukraine whilst the MAGA types only look inward.

For the avoidance of doubt any comments in response to a previous post are directed to its ideas and not at any, or all, posters personally.

I would imagine that the Republicans will be about as bipartisan as the Democrats were when Trump was in office.

'The consequences of this history-defying midterm election result are still being revealed'. The pollsters the media et al seem to have got it wrong. The Democrats led by 'senile' Joe Biden who actually has an incredible work-load, escape with a win and hardly a scratch. The HOR seems to be headed for a narrow Republican win, that's small beer for the right.

The pollsters the media et al seem to have got it wrong.

The Democrats led by 'senile' Joe Biden who actually has an incredible work-load, escape with a win and hardly a scratch.

The HOR seems to be headed for a narrow Republican win, that's small beer for the right.

Erm actually they don't. My reading of the situation is that they want a complete top to bottom overhaul with a new nominee, new chair & new minority house leader.
De Santis is being smart by not revealing his cards don't be surprised if he is reaching out to someone like Tulsi Gabbard to form some sort of alliance. Trump is toast...

I can only look at the voting.....I agree, that many of us are kind of amazed that there are enough Americans willing to stick with the Democrats considering what they are giving them.....and what's coming down the pipe. How they can view the Republicans as worse is mind blowing, but there you go, the stats are the stats....mind you when you look at the votes demographically a much more nuanced understanding is there. Well, it means they can block Biden's bills. While I'd agree that this result is a major disappointment for the Republicans winning the congress is significant.

It's by far the best outcome for the USA. It would force the GOP to reappraise and return to the mainstream.
