Wilf's penalty record is somewhat mixed. As at the end of last season he had scored 7 and missed 4 in the PL. You can add 2 more misses/saves this season although he did score from the rebound against Villa.

Frankly that isn't a good enough return IMO, but I'm not sure who should be taking them if Wilf doesn't.

Thoughts?

Eduoard takes them but has a way of dinking the ball that looks really bad if he misses. How about Andersen? He can hit a long ball accurately so might be able to put a penalty away.

In my opinion any professional footballer who's willing to put in regular and serious practice should score 9 times out of 10. If Wilf won't practise, PV should give the duty to someone who will.

I've never understood the argument that you can't replicate the pressure of taking penalties in practice. Rugby kickers seem to as do golfers, darts players, etc.

The way Joel Ward tucked his away against the toon I’d give him a go

I absolutely agree with this sentiment.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Wilf should be nowhere near our pens. He has missed his last three, and the ones against Norwich & Forest were atrocious…not even close and this stems mainly from a poor technique.

The only times I can remember us being any good at penalties were AJ's just off centre ones, and Luka a couple of seasons ago. If I remember correctly even the 1990 side had the odd dodgy penalty moment. We're just not that good at them.

No. And whoever decided to let Wilf "Scuffer" Zaha take penalties needs to have a re-think.

Absolutely not. Never should've been in the first place.

Despite his recent miss, Luka's got to be our guy. Went something like 19/21 when he was taking them.

I also think Schluppy has shown himself to be a good finisher - could be worth a crack if he's playing more than Luka.
