Blimey. Did you get out of the wrong side of the bed this morning?

It’s good enough for the despot countries Corbyn and his ilk hold up as examples.
Personally some of the current left would as well.

I understand Becky's frustration because it's a frustration lots of us are feeling. We don't need to worry about the boats if the incentives aren't there.....there's a reason they aren't staying in France and it isn't the English language.

The Tories have always known which laws they need to change to actually stop these crossings. It's about having the will to do it.

Usually they fob their base off with misdirections like paying the French to limit the flow (ha! good one) and lies about targets and intentions.

In fact it's only now that you have the signed up globalist wing of the Tories in charge that they are being more open about the Tory attitude.

However, this has been their attitude all along. Immigration higher than under Blair has happened under their watch....one million people last year. They have lied to their base for decades and their base just let them get away with it.

They are signed up to the migrant ponzi scheme just as much as the left.

I often hear the argument that Sunak isn't a remainer and voted leave....what they miss out is that Sunak was flown into one of the safest Tory seats.... William Hague's old seat of Richmond....and that was a big leave consistuency....Voting leave made a lot of sense for his political career at the time....He's shown his real colours since.

As I am quite sure you know, this is quite simply untrue. If it was that easy it would have been done long ago.

You are just trying to build yet another conspiracy theory. One day we will read a post from you that isn't based on one.

The UK is a signatory to the 1951 UN Refugee Convention. This imposes obligations which cannot just be ignored. We could withdraw from the Convention but there would be severe damage to our reputation, and significant consequences. A 2021 petition to do it attracted just 13040 signatures. So not a vote winner! For the Tories or anyone else.

So we are stuck and need to find a better, and much faster, way of determining genuine refugees from economic migrants alongside international ways of stopping the people smugglers.

This ought not be used as a political football. There is general agreement that the situation is out of hand and getting tied up in mud slinging isn't going to help solve it.

I suppose you have the comfort of knowing that 13039 people agree with you! Not a particularly high proportion is it?

What I want isn't going to be very different to what most people want. The difference is what delivers it and the best way to get there.

Can you recall the wording or link the petition.
I doubt it said ‘ do you want immigration law to be changed to allow removal of illegal immigrants quicker’?’ yes or no ?
I didn’t remember the press highlighting it bearing in mind it is and was such a big issue.

Apparently, the number of people who sign a petition you probably haven't heard of represents the number of people who agree with you on something.

Not exactly great logic but we move on.

Read it again! I didn't say they would be the only ones who might! Only that having that number could offer some comfort!
