The WC continues with extra BS as England and Wales show the backbones of jellyfish.

Really pathetic virtue signalling wokeness backfiring in a big way.

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.

You may be surprised that I agree this.

The criminalization of sexuality is morally repugnant but is only something we ourselves managed to overcome 50 years ago. That is a heartbeat in terms of civilization development. We have had more enlightened laws for only 5 decades and improved public attitudes for considerably less, yet we feel we have the right to lecture others who will doubtless arrive at the same destination in their own time.

Sure, protest, and let them know we think they are backward. But it is their house and their rules. And on that, under the weird speech of the FIFA president, his criticism of Western hypocrisy was unarguable.

Always thought those armbands were a ridiculous gesture anyway. Still, never mind HKO, England will take the knee before every match to show solidarity with something or other.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

So Infantino says boo and all the European teams s*** themselves, it's quite pathetic, if they had all threatened to walk away that would have put the matter to rest

The BBC will be between a rock and a hard place here which is good

I don't care about the issue, it's the rank virtue signalling hypocrisy of the FA and the players.

They will of course take a knee to show they care

Infantino's speech was pure wibble, does he know what was going on 3000 years ago.

His bank balance must be bulging at the seams

Time for a break away from FIFA and a 16-20 team world cup.

48 teams in the future, FFS.

The minor football nations can have their own tourney

But he was right to call us hypocrites.

So you are saying every country/demographic/religion that has bans on or indeed criminalised a sexual activity is not civilised in your view.

When do you think civilisation started to develop? Which millenium?

I would wear FIFA is corrupt armbands. I still would have worn the armbands anyway - not because I care about the issue, but to tell FIFA and oil sheikhs to 'do one'. I would have loved this world cup to get sh1tter than it is. It is a farce and a blot on football - which isn't exactly clean as it is. I reckon someone will take a stand. We will see. Bale wouldn't surprise me. He seems to not particularly care what people think.

I totally agree with both your sentences. Happy to make a (ridiculous and hypocritical) moral stand, but only if it doesn't affect their career or earnings.

I'm no fan of Shearer, but I agreed with him earlier today - before the announcement - where he said that one of the team should make a stand by wearing the armband, taking the yellow card and getting on with the game.

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)

If - and it's big 'if' - both England and Wales are safely through to the next round by the time they play each other (last match), then all 22 players should wear the armband. What are FIFA going to do, chuck both teams out of the World Cup?

hats off to palace, they were always gonna be louder, and hate to say it but they were impressive ALL bouncing and singing.

Agreed. Snowflakes in the desert whatever next.

I don't agree with all this politics in sport but if you are going to protest you have to put yourself on the line so to speak if you want people to take you seriously.

Gandhi / King / Suffragettes put life and limb and risk of imprisonment for their causes.

Harry Kane may get booked okay lads forget it we're not that bothered about it.

If the England players are that serious I would have said to FIFA okay I am not now going to wear the armband however because you lot are trying to bully us into silence I will take the pitch in a rainbow kit and I will speak out at every press conference. I would then ask the FA to back me to the point of leaving the WC if FIFA continued with this bully boy approach.

Bunch of snowflakes.

Why can’t they alternate who is captain. Kane today, yellow card. Next match another captain etc.
Surely FIFA can’t dictate who is captain.
All “big” footballing countries, should have made a stand at the time of the award. If they had all threats to withdraw from FIFA and started a breakaway organisation, FIFA would be toast.
Today we are playing Iran, where is the virtual signalling from Linekar and Neville about what is happening to women in Iran
