More nonsense from the Mail. I doubt whether they have actually talked to anyone about this but no-one will be angry about Greggs opening here. Bemusement is much more likely.

Rowes and Warrens, the two bakeries mentioned are both plant bakeries and, whilst not that highly regarded by the locals, they are still a huge improvement on Greggs, which produces a bland, unexciting range of mass-produced nothingness. I think they are terrible and would only ever choose them if there wasn't another choice within a fair distance. Which there is in Truro. There are some much better, smaller, local producers which are favoured by the locals.

Whoever at Greggs took this decision doesn't understand the local market at all. In my opinion it will close very quickly.

Embrace change.

Over time Greggs will evolve with the local culture and become Cornwall. You have nothing to be concerned about. There is nothing inherently different from Greggs to any other bakery and to see difference is to artificially create it.

Greggs with evolve and Cornwall with evolve with it.

Free Cornwall from (the yoke of the UK taxpayer).

Untrue.

You are given a lovely welcome here, either as a visitor or a new resident, by almost all of the local people who are amongst the kindest I have ever known.

Second home owners, who use their properties for only a few weeks a year, less so as some coastal villages are now almost deserted in the winter and local young people priced out of even quite small cottages. That though is not unique to Cornwall.

As this isn't change, there's nothing to embrace.

It's marketing stupidity. Greggs make bog standard pap.

The change is coming from the local bakeries, who are adapting their ranges to suit the changing requirements of people today. Who would have dreamed of a Vegetarian or Chicken Tikka Pasty a few years ago. Maybe next year we will see a Rainbow Pasty. You'll love that!

I'm excited for Cornwall's future of enrichment.

I will be watching with fascination.

I've seen nothing from Greggs elsewhere to justify that claim, but if true, then of course they would prosper. I have no concerns at all. If it happens because it's what people want, then all is fine.

You are so out of touch. There is a great deal happening here.

Lithium mining is planned. Newquay airport is a space hub.

The Fens are a backwater in comparison, where the most exciting things are the frozen chip factory and the road that takes you to Cambridge.

But most things happen despite what people want.

You said something quite funny....It only took a few years, still tips hat on that one.

Maybe there isn’t a shortage of cash in Cornwall. VFM is what it’s about. Compare the market and see where you get more for your fiver. Greggs or the posh baker.

You wouldn't get the same welcome up here in multi cultural London. I wish I lived in a one community town like you.
