Absolutely fantastic game. End to end stuff. I'd rather it hadn't gone to pens, but it's been hard to separate them.

France had probably been watching videos of past England penalty shoot outs.

Argentina played the best football I just thought the physicality of France would ultimately edge them but they deserved their victory.

Is that the best WC final ever?

As a football display then 1970 was better but in terms of drama and tension then probably. Odd seeing France didn't do much until they scored; they made up for it afterwards though.

From 80 minutes, no doubt.
I do feel that they should take more notice of goalkeepers being off their line during shoot outs, what is the Assistant there for? Martinez is a real master of s***housery. Kicking the ball away warranted a booking at least

Definitely poor sportsmanship. I guess he sees it as a case of 'whatever works'.

You couldn't have written it. They left it all on the pitch that's for sure. I feel for France but Argentina really put their stamp on the game early on, and managed to hang on in there when the momentum changed.

I'm still none the wiser whether Argentina are a actually a decent international side. They just seemed to be able to edge past teams in the crucial moments and get a fair share of luck when they needed it most.

Something I wish for both Palace and England yet both never seen to happen!!

Certainly in the top 3 of all time, and maybe even the GOAT

also i feel sorry for the little fella, playing with that undisciplined rabble in Paris.......Not winning the CL and also playing away from the Prem and its dazzling level of competitiveness. Visiting dumps like Strasbourg at the weekend.

Messi is too good for the French league.

glad to see Messi getting the Trophy. Tons of amazing players never managed that.

Eze Peasy at Anfield....

The 4th dodgy penalty may not just be luck mate..

The ability to dive is just about the most important aspect of the modern game.

I switched it off after one of the most ridiculous pens ever. VAR has spoiled the last bit of joy in international football for me and as a spectator sport I think the top game is all but dead.

They are just better at the dark arts than anyone else . Not to mention being awarded soft penalties in almost every game

And we still need a striker
