If your house is burgled no interest, if you stand on the street and have the timerity to possibly pray three police officers will come to arrest you

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.

I agree with the right to have an abortion, within reason of course. But also with peaceful protest. The governments relentless push to expand restrictions on protest are so wide that now planning to protest or even standing peacefully in opposition to something are arrestable offences. This should be a non partisan point and we ought be suspicious of the purpose of media highlighted protest actions of left and right for causes we may disagree with, they're likely just pushed front and centre to result in this end game. At least in France they have a bit of fighting spirit with regard to protest. We always look down on it or see it as pointless. Take this attitude and this is the result.

Yes it's madness, but just to point out that the police were enforcing an order made by Birmingham City Council, which has nothing to do with any government.

The order by BCC needs to be contested. Free Speech Union perhaps

This thread is total bs! The woman wasn’t arrested for praying. She can pray wherever she wants just so long as the space is open to her. Spaces around abortive centres worldwide have had to be controlled on occasions because of the activities of some who seek to interfere with those wishing to use the facilities.

It was her decision to ignore a legal order that caused her arrest and not whether she was dancing, standing on her head or praying.

Nor has the fact that the Council is Labour controlled have any importance. Abortion clinics tend to be in cities. Cities tend to be Labour controlled.

Abortion is legal in the UK. Protesting that it is, is a right. Ensuring that both are done peacefully and without one threatening the other is the task of our lawmakers. The role of the Police in such matters is solely to apply the law. Which they did.

It's a very bad law that's being used for cover abortion clinics now.

Just another sign of the state we are becoming.

So are you allowed to enter this protected 'space' in any circumstances then? How do women go about getting there to abort their nascent children?

I saw a video where this woman claimed to have changed the minds of many women who were planning to abort. If that's true it's bloody wonderful.

Arrested.....they should give her a fecking medal.

You are not allowed to protest or approach others going about their lawful business.

You can protest elsewhere and campaign as much as you like but no one has an unfettered right to protest anything just because they feel passionate about it.

Just because you believe in any cause does not give you the right to interfere with those who disagree.

If Extinction Rebellion decided to pray in the middle of the M1, thus stopping motorists from going about their legal business, do you think they should be ignored, or removed?

If anyone changes someone’s mind about anything then good for them but they must do it in a way which is lawful and wanted. Not unlawful and unwanted.
