If Andy Madley had deemed it an elbow incident he would have reached for the 'Red' card. It seems as though he viewed it as an attempt to prevent Mitrovic bearing down on goal.

so why did " the cheat" go down holding his face?
a simple "block off" wouldnt have caused this would it?

whilst im here can you explain the diff between this incident and when a player stops the attacker getting the ball when the ball is going out for a goal kick?

Perhaps the referee made a movement with his arm suggesting it was an arm across Mitrovic preventing his progress to goal but Tomkins assumed that Andy Madley was suggesting it was a deliberate elbow to the face. Pure speculation of course.

Of course there is a difference between thrusting an elbow into the face or raising one's arm and the player makes contact with the elbow.

this was also "the cheats" 3rd attempt at conning the ref....

the other 2 were ignored by the official so he simply did more this time to make sure it got noticed...

With respect I fail to see the similarity between the incident yesterday and the one you have highlighted.
Perhaps I need to pay a visit to the opticians!

So, why is most of this thread not in the match thread & what was the outcome of the OP's post, ie a fight at half time, lower holmesdale?

TBF that is a long standing beef of mine Willo.

If you saw the incident, Tomkins just blocks off Mitrovic’s run slightly. I would imagine that any physicist, footballing authority, am dram tutor etc would suggest that mitrovic’s reaction was not caused by the physical occurrence. Furthermore, it is an interaction that happens numerous times every match. Only throwing yourself to the ground would prompt an assessment from the referee in which case it’s fair to say most would expect them to assess the situation appropriately. This did not happen.

Also, what’s the difference between an incident such as this and when a player deliberately obstructs another from reaching the ball when it is going out of play? Most commonly seen for corners/goal kicks? Could never understand that unless it’s a case of a player being seen as ‘in possession’ of a ball?

when a player blocks another from reaching the ball e.g to allow it to go out of play, it can be argued the blocker has control of the ball.

Tomkins made no attempt to try and reach the ball and merely put an arm out to prevent the attacker's run.

JT was massively naive for both bookings - for a guy who has played c500 games, this is a joke.

If he had started running and blocked the attackers run by running across his path he would have probably won the free kick.

All I was thinking is how much better we'd be with Mitrovic rather than our so-called "strikers".

To me the problem started with Andros who sold it to Wilf that inverted wingers was the way forward and Wilf then converted himself into a centre forward. If Wilf was mainly playing as a right winger imo we could play a centre forward. This of course would not solve the problem that we have now of only 1 midfielder caused by not signing Conor.

Enjoying getting up later and not having someone who knows better than me (apart from the missus of course).

It would be nice to see some 'fight' at Selhurst Park from the Palace players.

The second yellow for Tomkins was a disgrace, the lino didn't flag for it and he was closer than the ref. Their second goal, handball and a foul. When do they ever disagree with VAR!!!!

He was giving them soft free kicks all the time and yet they committed 15 fouls to our 12, some of which were shockers. And he let several go as well. We have two players sent off fulham not one booking.

Yes, we were p!ss poor but playing against the ref as well we had no chance.

I hope we appeal tomkins sending off.

I was behind the goal in the whitehorse so everyone was facing me. The referee originally said no foul, waved it away with his hands, then changed his mind after a couple of seconds. It can only have been the linesman that said in his ear that it was a foul.
