Cool down everyone Chelsea are only three points ahead of us having changed their manager and spent millions on new players. Just accept we are a middish table team and just staying in the division is our objective. There will be unexpected loses and unexpected wins. From the season so far there is nothing out of the ordinary to suggest
that we are in dire trouble. Keep the faith fans.COYP

I was beginning to despair until I read this. A few poor results and most people want to take panic action and oust the manager.

I expect us to have a tough ride for the next month or so, given the fixture list, but I do expect us to get enough points to keep our PL status. The last thing I want to see is the club panic-buying and overpaying. We don't have the resources to compete with the big boys or even the fallen clubs which are bigger than us. We have to use any transfer kitty wisely.

It's a very different league from the ones that was graced by Jackson and Rogers when a team (Forest) could break into the top 4 or 8 and even win the league. What is happening to us now is not great but could happen to any team in the bottom 12 and I believe that we will pull away from the bottom 3 by end of season. That of course is conjecture but there are more than 6 teams worse than us.
That is my belief but there are no longer teams that will wander slowly up the league and get a Uefa or champions league (not us of course).
We can blame SP for what is happening but the blame is the teams above us with not better managers but just more money. I blame personally the tv who rarely point at the top 6 or so clubs who get a few extra points each season from the refs.

Enjoying getting up later and not having someone who knows better than me (apart from the missus of course).

That is nonsense.

Hear this every year when we have a bit of bad spell.

If it got to the stage we look like we could be relegated manager would be replaced anyway at the moment we have plenty of other teams between us and the 3 at the bottom.

In fairness, this run of form...

Lose 1-0 at Forest, no shots on target.
Lose 3-0 at home to Fulham, 9 men, no shots on target.
Win 2-0 at Bournemouth, on paper the worst team in the league but an improvement.
Lose 4-0 at home to Spurs, who had shipped 2 goals in their previous 7 league games.
Lose 2-1 at home to Southampton, bottom of the league, 6 defeats in a row, both goals diabolical.

... is a really bad spell. Amplified by Palace being almost unique in the league in having a month to train together prior to it.

It's probably the worst run since the end of the 19/20 season (the Covid restart) when we were safe very early.

It could just be a blip, but it's the performances as well as the results that need to improve. I can't see a game until April that we'd go in as favourites on paper. To go from consistently losing games where we're favourite to winning them when we're not is going to take a lot to change.

Sean Dyche will be most likely off to Everton to replace Frank Lampard in the near future and in the absence of any suitable available replacement we will stick with PV until the end of the season. We should be able to scrape points here and there to reach safety.

If however, Potter fails at Chelsea and he becomes available it will be interesting to see if we make a move for him in May.

Everyone seems to like Vieira! But is he too nice? Trying to have us play like Arsenal in their heydays. Only difference, they had the crew to play that way. Some workhorses - Winterburn, Adams, Dixon and Parlour. And some megastars - Bergkamp, Henry, Pires, Overmars, Ljungberg, Petit and yes, Vieira.
Had some goalscoring bloke from Palace too..forgot his name!
With Eze and Schlupp to complete a midfield with Doucoure, we are bound to be overrun.
Ayew on top - three goals or something like that in last 57 games.
Ward on left/right back.
Manager without av plan B.
Add that, our team covers the least km in the league.
It looks bad at the moment. Not that we are losing, but the way we are playing and losing.

I hope you are right Grumpy . I just hope they dont leave it too long if things dont change . Pat is a lovely guy but , i just dont see 3 teams more s***e than we are at the moment , I thought Southampton were one until yday . If Wilf leaves its gonna be an even tougher fight . Only time will tell .

It's not about a couple of games but the whole season and yes we have had some awful performances plus results but look at the table.

5 teams below us before you hit the bottom 3 so yes already many teams who are more s**t.

Everton who is the team top of those 3 have 15 points and played 18 games - Palace have 22 points and only played 17 games meaning 7 points gap.

About to hit half way of the season lots of games left but it really would take a lot of those other teams all getting good results and Palace getting none.

Look at Last 6 league games of the teams below us pay no attention to Southampton game.

Option 3

a few loans 2 are allowed in England and others from abroad for this window.

If things continue to be bad towards the end of the season get some one else in and give them the summer window with backing and 1-2 seasons.

The issue is who would replace PV?

If PV had better staff around him and not an obese assistant who is useless hes a low league guy I could see him doing a better job.

I think PV might be heading in the same direction as Pulis, albeit without the "keeping us up bonus" issue, if he doesn't see funds this month. Quite possibly we might be looking for a new manager at the end of this season come what may.
