Driving through Reigate yesterday I noticed Spare advertised in WHSmith window for £14. Half price already? Maybe not doing as well as we've been led to believe.

That's interesting.

Perhaps Harry's next book will be called: 'Spare... any change please?'.

Unfortunately, this is global. I'm in the West of Ireland; it's on the front of my local newspaper from yesterday. The interview was on Irish channels too.

There are many reasons why popular books are discounted. Because they are easily available book shops try to attract buyers by discounting, they may be non-returnable for the seller, the publisher will offer a discount for bulk purchases which can be passed on. With the likely quantity printed expect to see it in remainder shops in the future.
Seeing the amount of this book which has already been extracted it's a wonder anyone sees the need to buy it beyond the buzz that's been created around it.

It sold 1.4 million copies between US/UK and Canada on release day breaking the record for a non-fiction book, which was previous Obama's memoir.

He should just call the sequel 'Part'.

I asked this question earlier how do they define a bestseller, if a book shop orders 50 copies? Or if they sell 50 copies?
