Back to the question…what has to happen?

Plan A
We need the 12th Man to sing their heads off!! Somehow, we have create the famous Selhurst atmosphere - get behind the team - and hopefully give them some much needed confidence.

Plan B
Leave that to you lot to add your thoughts :-)

At least it’s going to be so cold our players will have to put a shift in to keep themselves warm. I think some realism over the next three games will help. Manure twice & Newcastle. Expect f all points, no goals, then anything else is a bonus. Work on setting up the defence so that when we play the Weed we at least have half a chance.

I reckon we feed them all a specially crafted Selhurst burger with Extra e-coli, then for the return match they'll all be too ill/tired to play, and we'll have a shot at beating their 2nd team.

I noticed it didn't really work with Wilf up front. Then I noticed that it worked even less with Edouard and Mateta (did they even touch the ball?). So it's quite a conundrum.

I don’t think it matters who’s up front until the midfield to service them is sorted.

True, plus we concede easy goals too. Will be Utd's easiest game against us for a while. We're going to lose about three nil. At least we will do it looking good. We won't lose ugly.

That's the naked truth.
Haaland, Kane wouldn't score for us with this lack of service.

Edouard has the makings of a top class scorer but not if he has to chase around looking for scraps.

If the manager plays the same line-up as in past half dozen matches I fear the worse. At least drop Schlupp and Ayew and give Hughes and one of the youngsters a go. What have we to lose?

I suspect that Vieira will be happy to let Utd play in front of us given the pace they have on the break.

To make that work more effectively I would drop Eze and bring Hughes into the team as a starter.

Whatever the team selection or the tactics, it's difficult to be optimistic about this one.

I don't disagree with you, but Vieira sees it differently and maintains we are creating chances but not scoring from those chances (watch back his interviews).
For me there are too many games where we have no or minimal shots on target and this is partly attributable to low chance creation.

I can't believe after the Southampton game Hughes didn't start against Chelsea. He and decore were probably the best 2 players in the team....until PV replaced decore with luka. I think the problem with edouard is he's a 'fox in the box' type of player, but because of the make up of our midfield he is expected to run around like a headless chicken, doing his defensive duties. Strengthen the midfield and leave him up top and we might see a different player...
