what about all those extra immigrants being let into the country! surely they also have a huge strain on the NHS!

I would like to see the evidence for the second claim but even if true the tax system, including NI, pays for a great deal more than the NHS and it’s obviously true that anyone needing to use a resource more because of something they could have avoided is using a greater share than the average. Every person puts a strain on the NHS. Not all smoke, take drugs, drink excessively or otherwise behave in irresponsible ways.

It is a very complex matter and very much depends on which figures are looked at and who is presenting them.
