From Coppell onwards the best and worst palace managers (at least 20 games) by win ratio:

Dave Bassett 48.33
Tony Pulis 42.86
Iain Dowie 40.65
Alan Pardew 40.23
Steve Coppell 39.12

George Burley 28.00
Ian Hollaway 30.43
Roy Hodgson 33.38
Patrick Viera 33.85
Neil Warnock 34.25

I think from this list, Pulis and Pardew come out well, although Pardew spent alot, Dowie is mainly because he inherited AJ, Hodgson and Warnock look bad but didn't spend much, PV is ongoing (at the moment)

Thought Trevor Francis would be in the mix for worst Palace manager stats. He truly was a clueless clown.

He has got a 5-0 win against the Weed on his resume though!

For me, evidence that statistics are misleading. Pardew, to my mind, was one of the worst managers we've ever had. And in contrast, who thinks any of the bottom five are worse managers than Peter Taylor? Lists like this take no account of the circumstances the managers faced and the players they had at their disposal.

Dowie was not my favourite manager but getting the squad fit including AJ was the reason for the promotion that first season. I am surprised at SC being so low albeit in 5th and most of his time was in the top tier. I am very surprised at Dave B being that high but those were different days.

Interesting set of stats though, a bit of a blockbuster you could say

Enjoying getting up later and not having someone who knows better than me (apart from the missus of course).

As others have posted there is no context to these lists. Sir Steve had at least one spell where he saved the club with kids whilst the first team was being sold under him.

He was a great manager.

Agreed with Steve being top of the list really, and the worst five should not have Hodgson or Warnock in them, although the two worst were awful

If we're honest, probably the most impressive performer on that list is Pulis because 1. he was here for a very short time, 2. he inherited a far poorer team than the others in the top 5, and 3. he got the results he did when our backs were firmly against the wall. His record isn't inflated by easy wins in meaningless, mid-table games; in the short time Pulis was with us, every game mattered. In context, what he achieved was remarkable whether you liked his football or not.

Agreed.
Pulis did an amazing job with the resources available if you look at it in objective terms.
I hadn’t appreciated his win ratio and I can think of few managers who could have achieved 11th position in the Premier League with that squad.
To the Pulis haters I’m not advocating a return to those days, but just acknowledging a job well done.
I seem to recall he won at least one Manager of the Year award for that season.
