Canterbury city council have similar planes ,dividing the city into 5 zones. Whether it will happen remains to be seen.

Bromley council turned my road which is a narrow 2 way into a one way road but 2 way for cyclists. When that didn't work they turned it back into a two way road with one cycle lane (not that it is ever used).

As they put up cycle barriers the narrow road is even narrower making it a nightmare to drive down with oncoming traffic let alone the poor sods who have to park and deliver stuff.

All of the above was done without the consent of the residents and worse our 3 local councilors.

The excuse was COVID I kid you not.

These idiots are zealots the sooner we sack them the better, perhaps the residents should decide not to pay their council tax whilst not consulting the council see how they like that.

Fines if you go out of your district more than a 100 times a year, even for work...

Our friend Mr Khan is the current chair of the C40 cities group...

If you have no time, got to 7mins 50secs to see what is happening in Oxford Even if you don't want it, they are going to ignore you anyway..

I was in Oxford last summer. If you live in the city e.g. student digs then a bike is a good way to get around as the city centre is fairly small. However many people live on the outskirts and like most cities the burbs are a big sprawl.

If you have to commute into the city or deliver stuff it wont work.

I think it's great. We need far more extreme Net Zero measures. People need to wake up to what the policy actually means. And then react accordingly.

Yup until all the politicians and celebs start wearing hair shirts they can go .... themselves.

Funny how according to them the world is dying and action is needed today yet they can always justify a limo / plane / helicopter trip.

When I start bumping into these people on the tube or whilst waiting an hour in the cold for a bus I might start to pay attention.

I see some radio DJ had a meltdown the other day because he got stuck on a freezing cold tube for 1 hour. Annoying isn't mate welcome to our world.

Despite my 'moniker', I actually live outside Oxford. I never go there. It's full of loonies. I made an exception for Oxford v Palace earlier in the season, but the Kassam isn't really in Oxford proper.

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)

I have only ever been up there for a University open day and fell in love with it. Blown away on so many, many levels. Yes, it was primarily the University part that I saw and I know there is so much else but even so.

Genuinely gutted that neither of my kids went for it. Both had the exam grades in terms of predicted and then achieved but neither seemed that enamoured with the idea or the place.

All that 'Dreaming Spires' malarkey I got straight away.

An absolutely ridiculous way to move forward.
what actually happens - as Sad Dick Khan't has proved is that the more you limit the car the worse the congestion and therefore the pollution.
It is Orwellian as are many schemes to limit vehicular movements over the whole country.
The farcical bit being that it will make no difference to pollution at all but will cost a ton of money to implement and will keep a load of useless t***s, who otherwise wouldn't have a job in work at the publics expense.
Just let people go about their lives - it isn't rocket science.

I can't imagine anybody is against clean air but as usual with the environment there is a Stalinist approach to the solution e.g. traffic restrictions / congestion charge is the only option and anyone who disagrees wants to see babies die.

The CG will raise revenue for the politicians vanity projects but it impacts the poor proportionally and I am not convinced it is the most effective way to improve clean air.

Technology can solve these issues I would prefer Mayor Cannot spend money on improving the roadside electric charging network which is one of the stumbling blocks for people thinking about going green. If you have no off road parking how can you charge your EV?

Anyway there are lots of things they can do to encourage people to give up their dirty diesels white vans without hurting the economy and people's lifestyles.

All of this 'we're doing it for the planet' cobblers is an almighty con. It's all about raising revenue in fines.

Britain is a pimple on the ar5e of the world. Until the likes of China and India start doing something (which they won't) then what's the point.
