Richards has been decent, stepping in during Andersen’s absence. This is promising as he’s only had 2 full starts so hasn’t really got up to full sharpness yet.

He also looks a bit more commanding in the air than Andersen or Guéhi, neither of whom strike me as being the best in the air when defending set pieces.

In a conversation yesterday a gentleman mentioned the name of Matt Doherty whom I was informed had been playing at left-back at Wolves before being moved to right wing-back by Nuno Espirito Santo.I was also informed that Doherty has actually been deployed in both wing-back positions. He certainly has that ability to make surging runs down the right flank.

played as RWB against us less than 2 weeks ago. Scored Spurs 3rd goal.Hasn't been a regular since his move from Spurs so might be able to get him for c£10m.

In my discussion we did discuss his age - he recently turned 31.
Our club have been trying to lower the age of the squad but his view was that this would not be a consideration in a 'Loan' deal.

We also discussed another player in his 30s, Mohamed Elneny.

I prefer him to Anderson.
Quicker, reads the game well and his tight marking is something to behold.
If we had an attacking right back we could play a central three with the full backs pushing on.

Stone me, in Garth's 'Team of the week'.

Deservedly so I'd say, but then I would say!

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

You been watching Tony Hancock repeats?

Mind you, you're probably too young to get that reference

I'll go with that as opposed to being willfully oblivious to everything Midlands

Maybe - who knows.
Shame really - if Clyne was more comfortable on the ball he is certainly fast enough

Here's a thought - who thinks Joa would make a decent holding midfielder? Can spray passes left right and centre...already has the tackling and anticipation nailed down from his learnings as a CB...tall, commanding, reads the game.

Maybe?

yes , but having just signed two young and hungry midfielders, we won't need to try him there this season.

I know food prices have gone up a lot in the last year or so, but really?
