You should take a walk in my world. I write policies to avoid misunderstandings. A sickness policy DOES NOT cover this, it isn't sickness.

Zzzzzz yet again picking up on one word. I am not writing policy on this board just quickly typing an opinion I think my meaning is quite clear yet you choose to ignore it and focus on one word.

One more point

You said two things. First, menopause is like any other illness. It isn't.

Second, activists require policies for everything, they don't. Only health and safety, disciplinary, grievance and dismissal policies are mandated. There is no recommendation at all for a menopause policy and nobody as far as I am aware is pressing for it to be required, it is just helpful to have clarity to ensure relative fairness.

Apart from that I guess you were entirely correct.

Amazing how often people on here quickly type opinions yet rarely have any support to them or do any research. As has been said, apparently this is a site for opinions. If you actually want anything near the truth, go elsewhere.

How would your company deal with a male employee who circulated a photo of a female employee with the narrative " would you ?".

Everyone here knows what the " would you " question means.

Would that be considered as acceptable behaviour?

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.

Eh? That's some non-sequitur.

I am now a consultant, don't have a company. But any (decent) company would take disciplinary action against that individual. That is to say, commence a disciplinary investigation with the potential for a disciplinary sanction. Why?

Cast your mind back to the posts around the woman who was arrested for silent prayer in Birmingham. I am sure someone on here posted her photo with the " would you " question.

Nobody on here is an employee. And neither was she. You must be desperate, quiet day is it?

I suggest you take it up with this site's owners or editor if you are outraged. Albeit you will be fighting against many years of tradition

I really don't think it will have any huge impact upon Isabel Vaughan-Spruce, she has pretty much stopped reading HOL these days although may be glued to it waiting for transfer updates.

Hoisted by your own petard as they say.

it's " here " btw

Look forward to more of your musings on the HR policies you write.

So your point is if something is done in the workplace that is not ok is done in a different setting it is ok.

Your are truly the padawan of Darth Wisbech

FYI I have been a member on here many years more then you, so your years of tradition comment can go where there's little or no sunshine

Have a great day

Yes, it is here. But you missed the capital I and an if is missing.

I fail to see how I have been hoisted by my own, or anyone else's, petard. But you carry on believing you are very clever.

What is acceptable in some situations isn't always acceptable in others. That is particularly the case with jokes, in this case a long running one. There is also an element of the intention and the effect of a statement to take into account.

This has diddly squat to do with the topic of the thread. The lady concerned may or may not have been 'the left'.

Typically people who lean on semantics and trying to trip people up in conversation do so because their own arguments are thoroughly lacking in substance and they lack the ability or intelligence to challenge the points being made.

Fair call on my typos by Mapletree

I also like his " when I do it , it's a joke " defence put forward

So your semantic point criticism is aimed at both of us as we both made mistakes in typing.

Back to my quiet day.

Semantics

The branch of linguistics and logic concerned with meaning. The two main areas are logical semantics, concerned with matters such as sense and reference and presupposition and implication, and lexical semantics, concerned with the analysis of word meanings and relations between them.

Nothing to do with spell-check hijacking spelling.
