Forest could be a possibility just not sure they’ve got friends in the right places to overcome FFP like the country owned clubs do.

I think it’s more likely he didn’t want to go to Everton as they are a shambles and face a long hard battle against relegation. Nobody in their right mind will go to Everton they have nothing to offer anybody with ambition.

It’s being reported that Everton have bid £45 million for Gallagher.
This is a surprise as I thought they were skint, but I suppose they have sold Gordon.
The bid coincides with the announcement of Dyche as manager.
If true it will blow Palace out of the water as I can’t see us spending £45 million on anyone, and I’m not sure I’d want us to.

As I posted an hour or so ago, apparently:

"He's rejected Everton. It appears that the Everton offer matched what Chelsea were happy to sell Gallagher for (all per SSN). Apparently he's only interested in either staying at Chelsea or moving to a club with European football. Consequently, he won't want to come to us. Furthermore it is suggested that as much as Newcastle would like him they do have FFP constraints that would make it difficult for them to meet Chelsea's valuation".

I’m with you on this Badger. I don’t think he is worth that sort of money and I’d rather we go and find our own version of him for circa £10-20m. I agree £25m is about the right number.

Despite him looking superb for us early on, his performances tailed off dramatically towards the end of his stay and I’ve seen too many loose performances from him at Chelsea to change my opinion.

Yes he’s performances did tail off, and as already said, we need to move on and find our own gem, hopefully freedman has something lined up, but not much time left.

If we have Ahmada then i dont see the need for CG , we desperately now need to focus on shifting Matetta and bringing in one if not two decent forwards

Click bait is suggesting that Chelsea would not want to strengthen Newcastle who they see as and up coming threat.

No sure i agree.

As Chelsea seem to be buying even more midfielders if a late loan is possible for Conor i'd go for that. Ahmada is only 20 so we need to manage expectations.

We only have 2 strikers so i'd keep Mateta for this season at least.

I do not envisage a scenario whereby Mateta departs and there is no new addition to the forwards ranks.
I also don't envisage Gallagher re-joining our club.

If Hughes continues to play like he did when he started recently we don’t need Gallagher. Hughes doesn’t have Gallagher’s goal threat but he puts himself about in midfield. He’s an intelligent player who can partner Decoure. Gallagher has a tendency to run around like a headless chicken and hope someone is covering the spaces he leaves.

A right back please and if Mateta goes then Haji Wright!

My thoughts exactly. Plus a right back.

We can dream about CG, but there is just a remote chance that he returns to Selhurst Park. Even though he probably understands that manager Potter will push him down the pecking order.
With Chelsea's machine gun approaching the transfer window, I think the former Brighton boss regrets leaving the Seagulls. Re. Gallagher and a 45 mill. price tag - no thanks. He was probably the best and most fascinating player in PL first part of last season, but then he faded away. He is certainly not a Chelsea type of player - the only chance for us to get him is 1) they lower asking price and 2) have some clause about Chelsea having first option to buy him back.
Lower the asking price to 20-25 mill (after all, 20 mill. for the new owner seems like change money) and yes, he might return to us. Because no way they let him go to No 4-spot competitor Newcastle.
