Whilst in the early stages of his Leicester career he had a trial at Man United as a striker.

Schlupp was the only player providing any sort of goal threat. He made De Gea make a full-length save in the first half and then scored in the second. It was his best performance for a long time. His reward? To be hauled off and substituted when another goal was needed and the team were starting to apply some pressure. In the end players were just being thrown on as if just to ‘give them a game’ as in junior football. The team lost any shape it might have had and never seriously looked like scoring again. Good management?

And what does the current assistant manager contribute? At least when the likes of Sammy Lee filled the role they were vocal and the players were left in no doubt about what was wanted and was thought about their performances, but it appears with SD being fired that kind of enthusiasm and passion is now deemed out of place.

His style may not suit everyone, but Dyche has only been at Everton a week. They had sold one of their best players to Newcastle, had no new ones come in and with basically the same team that has looked a shambles recently, beat the league leaders today who had previously only lost one game this season. Again his way of playing was derided when at Burnley, but given the quality of players he had it worked. He kept Burnley up, bar one season, but then immediately got them promoted again and even got them into Europe one year, so today’s result was not entirely a fluke. Pretty sure he will keep Everton up now, something which looked way beyond the previous manager’s capability. Wolves also seem to be turning things around under a new manager

Unless something changes, this Palace team will still be attempting to pass it out from the back, playing tippy tippy football and trying to walk the ball into the net all the way down to the Championship. Seem to remember Swansea going the same way a few years back. The current players are just not good enough to successfully carry out this way of playing, especially against the top sides, however commendable this style may be. Pep and his Man City players can do it and you do wonder if PV is unduly influenced by this from his time there.

Don’t think PV has ever been involved in a relegation battle before. Lose to Brighton next week and he might start having to learn how to cope with one

Well it's true and only Wilf has scored more why is that two reasons he has played a lot more minutes and takes pen.

It wasnt that bad was it? We are never going to win at Old Trafford going toe to toe with them but gave ourselves a chance by keeping in the game . OK the sending off helped but they were hanging on, they had 4 cb's on the pitch at the end such was our dominance and only some very good defending on their part denied us a point .Decent game managment by PV ?

Not sure what some people expect we were probably the closest any of the past 12 visitors to the Old Toilet have been to upsetting the party . Ten Fags was delighted and relieved at the end that they had hung on knowing their winning run at home had been in jepoardy .

And we still need a striker

It is the manner of the loss not the loss itself.
We were poor and could not have complained of we were three down at half time.
We are sleepwalking to the Championship.
The manager and his tactics are wrong

Exactly! We played ManU and not Westminster Choir Boys. They are better in every department, let’s be fair. Don‘t think that not getting a result at OT makes us a relegation candidate or a Tier 3 side.

Just going back through this thread, nobody seems to have suggested we missed Wilf yesterday. Does anyone think we did ? I have to say I was nearly half way through watching the match before I remembered he wasn't playing.

It's not just the Man U game in isolation though.
We've taken 5 points from the last 8 games and scored just 4 goals.
If this form is replicated for the rest of the season we will be relegated.
It's not just the results, but also the lacklustre performances.
To get better results and performances it will be necessary it will be necessary to avoid the same mistakes and approach to games that has led to the current situation.

It will be good when he's gone, the club can move on and the fans can appreciate that there is more than one way to score a goal other than give the ball to player who loses possession more often than not and is selfish with it to boot. Doesn't offer anything near the threat he used to and defenders have sussed him out.
A great player on his day, but those days a becoming increasingly less frequent. Other players need to step up or we need to find an adequate replacement.

I concur with these sentiments.

We should remember that we have lost our engine room this season. No Jimmy Mac and no Gallagher. No wonder we're struggling . We are trying to compete with money bags clubs who can spend £300m in a transfer window? The financial fair play rules are being taken to the cleaners

Yes, this is the crux of the matter. The next 3 or 4 games should be telling for how we fare moving forward.
