For my penny’s worth, for one weekend I absolutely love VAR, kept a smile on my face, masked a poor performance for us, they were good, but the sound of “who are ya “ being returned with interest, loved it

The interfering with play thing has always been something that irks me - clearly if an attacking player is on the field of play in the opponent's half then he is interfering with play, either directly to receive the ball or indirectly by running interference, giving the player with the ball an option or hoping for a rebound - in any event the defending team has to make efforts to nullify this attacking threat or option - To me there is some allowance that could be made where an attacker is laying on the floor with injury sustained from a previous attack, provided that player isn't laying in such a position to influence the attack, i.e inside the 6 yard box. This is not happening as you are still relying on humans to award the decision from there perspective which will still give the wrong result in certain circumstances. if we can get Apple or Microsoft or a big tech company to create a perfect VAR which a computer makes the decision .... job done. We have had some decisions go our way and against us, all the clubs will be having a right go about it as it ws brought in to try an end what the ref did or didn't see and award the correct decision. This is not happening as you are still relying on humans to award the decision from there perspective which will still give the wrong result in certain circumstances.
if we can get Apple or Microsoft or a big tech company to create a perfect VAR which a computer makes the decision .... job done.
For the time being I would bin VAR and go back to the ref either getting it right or wrong.

The point of VAR was to remove subjectivity and make clearly evidenced, objective decisions. Them not even being able to do that with the technology has only reinforced general opinions of them and perhaps justified for many, their hate over the years. This weekend saw an inability to call offsides, understand what constitutes a red card and confusion as to whether an outfield player can use their arm to stop a shot destined for goal. Personally, I think we should have some type of 'Wheel of Fortune' spinning device to determine decisions. There'd probably be a greater percentage of correct calls plus far more entertainment. Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

After every round of games, referees errors / judgement calls would be discussed.

Now we have supplemented that with erroneous VAR calls.

Subjectivity does not generally enter the equation in terms of offside decisions.
Whether a player is interfering or not can be open to interpretation and debate.

Some handballs are clear-cut decisions but there can be some which are not and of course "Clear and obvious error" enters the equation.
