Starmer was Shadow Secretary of State for Exiting the EU under Corbyn, and did everything he could to either reverse the result of the referendum or push for a second referendum.

Personally, should we be unlucky enough to have a government led by Starmer, I wouldn't trust him to not get the UK much closer to the EU to the extent we would be a member in all but name.

A couple of days more and Corbyn would have been in power in 2017.

And he was a very effective leader of the opposition frequently defeating the government.

Starmer may achieve office but whether he gets the heart of the labour party I don't think so.

Wilson & Blair who both won successive elections, knew that labour was a broad church and included the left.

He will be elected on the basis that the tories have run their course and nobody could be as bad.

When did Corbyn " defeat " the Government?

Of course Corbyn should be allowed to stand as a Labour candidate, he represents the views of a significant proportion of the party.

Then those who agree with Corbyn should leave and start their own socialist party

The membership of Islington Labour Party should be able to select their candidate.

I imagine you'd like to live in a country where there is zero tax, no?

I have to be careful what I say to you, I wouldn't want to get a yellow card, now would I haha.

Yeah, because the pandemic and the enormous cost was all imaginary.

And before you say that government policy was a mistake, let me remind you that Starmer wanted even more lockdowns and more furlough.

If you don't want yellows, choose your language carefully. I have to censor myself regularly with certain posters.

There are a lot of compilations on Twitter of Starmer doing 180's on many positions in the past few years.

This is the same for most politicians, the thing with Starmer is his refusal to acknowledge he ever had contrary positions.

The public will accept a change of mind much more readily than hypocrisy

Poor on the part of Labour and incorrect Sunak has never said those things whilst Starmer when he was in charge at the DPP oversaw some of those cases so is actually more culpable.

Judges are given discretion and often make decisions that the public don't like but unless Sunak actually came out in favour of not jailing these scum it's a just mud slinging.

on a similar path, Rayner and Reeves diametrically opposed on tax, Rayner wants a class war tax, Reeves wants to woo people who would be smashed by a doubling of capital gains tax, i.e homeowners and savers

I’m quite confident the tories have cash at hand. The difference between them and labour is they value cash flow. So spend and replenish. Labour will and have done badly by emptying the bank then tax the hell out of you and me just to survive. The tories found £400 billion for covid. Does that look like a government with no reserves ?

Mind-blowing and depressing in equal measure.

Starmer is a shyster - as much of a liar as Boris and about as principled as Truss.

He's going to fumble what should have been the simplest GE victory in recent history.

Yet somehow the Party appears unified, the policies are palatable (and regularly get pilfered by the Tories) and there are few of the oopsy daisy moments that the Tories have on a weekly basis. But he's bad at running things. I see.
