To be honest, the thread is titled "life after Zaha", not "do you think Wilf is a great player or past his best?".

Personally, I'm fed up with the endless new contract saga. It's been a distraction for eighteen months now. He's had a new deal on the table and, as is his right, he hasn't signed it. His openness to offers clearly hasn't helped him find a new club (at least thus far) and it hasn't helped us to plan for the future either. Drawing this out for so long has been a lose-lose for all parties.

Whatever I think of Wilf, he either needs to sign the contract we've offered him or confirm that he has no intention of doing so, in either case as soon as possible. We might be better off with him than without him next season but we don't hold the cards and the future should be our focus.

If he goes, the show will go on. Yes, I want Wilf to stay but I'm damned if I'm going to lose any more sleep about it. Either way, we'll be fine.

We've been after Sarr for about a decade - we might get him in a year or two.

Move Olise to the left to replace Wilf

Do either of Ebiowei or Rak-Sakyi get a chance on the right ?

Ebiowei - he must wonder what he has done ? Signed by Palace and on the bench every game but never comes on. Gets loaned to Hull for game time and sits on the bench for them.

Rak- Sakyi - maybe more chance with an impressive season at Charlton.

Most likely - it will be Ayew !!!!

Seems to be the way we've handled Ebiowei has been entirely sensible. We knew he was young and talented, but not ready. We bedded him in and got to know his strengths and weaknesses by exposing him to the first-team squad for six months, putting him on the bench to let him experience what the PL was about while knowing he wasn't ready for it yet. Then, with the confidence and sense of belonging got from that period, we sent him out on loan to start getting decent-level games under his belt. Exactly the way to handle and improve a young talent. Ebiowei must be delighted to have arrived at a club who knows how to develop a young players future in the PL.

I hope you are right but I don't get excited about players until they are tearing it up in the first team. Until then they are just possibles.

A very good post. Have done a bit of Googling and it seems he's had a minor injury at Hull, so hasn't played many minutes. So probably too early to say how well he's doing. But he still very young, 19 so has a lot of time to develop.

I’ve been through the squad and I’ve counted 6 so far

Really 6 who came through the youth system?

I count 3 Mitchell, Clyne and Zaha?

No I meant players full stop. That are tearing it up. Guaita, Anderson, Guehi, Doucoure, Olise, Wilf.

Of which how many are on the unlikely/no chance list ?

We seem to have aquired a number of players in recent years who after early enthusiasm have become either squad fillers for the U21 or those we have tried getting some money back via loan outs .

And we still need a striker
